WaPo headline: Post-convention polls show Trump sustaining his underdog status
They could saved some words by just saying “behind,” but gotta keep the horserace narrative. He’s not behind, he’s an underdog!
(And, of course, there’s the whole question of why it’s Trump “sustaining his underdog status” and not Biden “maintaining his lead.”)
Everybody loves the underdog! I may need to reconsider my vote.

Dear god. the NYTimes headline writers need to be punched in the dick so hard.

NYTimes headline writers, take heed:
In a race where the incumbent has abysmal approval ratings and is trailing badly in the polls, it’s remarkable how few headlines are framed that way.
“Grasping for a message” doesn’t sound positive to me. Sounds more like someone who’s getting desperate.

That’s what I meant, it’s finally a headline that accurately describes the state of the race. You’d almost never know Trump was behind badly going off of most of the mainstream media, especially at places like the New York Times.
I hate to give DJT any good ideas, but here’s a message that will absolutely resonate with voters: “I resign”.
Ah sorry, I thought this was another “Fuck the NYT” post.
It was, via a comparative link to the Post!

Considering that makes up 79.32% of my posts on the forum, I think that’s very understandable. :) Also, as Gordon has kindly pointed out, it kinda is!
Also on the WaPo front page: bringing a shield to a protest to defend yourself is “radical” and “extreme.”
Gas masks, hockey sticks and homemade shields have become commonplace at protests around the country as activists embrace more extreme tactics.
Lots of foregrounding BLM PROTESTERS ADOPTING “RADICAL” NEW TACTICS and backgrounding (in response to police adopting extremely aggressive tactics early on.) And zero zilch nada no mention of right-wing militias showing up these protests heavily armed, which has happened in more places than Kenosha. Nor of Trumpists using cars to try to run people over.
EDIT: Guess I wasn’t the only one who noticed this, since later in the day the headline was changed to: After 100 days of demonstrations, new means of resistance are likely to remain (though the subhead still talks about “extreme tactics.”)
I can’t see this headline without thinking of
Wow. “Dueling versions of reality” is Onion-level.

Gotta present both sides’ realities. You know, to be fair and balanced. If one side says we almost have 200,000 dead from COVID and the other says it’s all a big hoax to destroy the economy it’s not a journalist’s place to weigh in on which is factual.

Dems are in too much array, it can only mean even more disarray in the future!
Actually posting this on Discourse it seems the Post has changed the headline and text a bit. Here’s what I saw on the home page:
Biden’s attempts to please everyone could lead to bitter fights among Democrats
Joe Biden’s all-things-to-all-people approach has helped him unify his party. But it is laying the groundwork for internal battles…

My balanced and objective take on this is… fuck this shit. Not about you Tim. Just in general.
Dems in nuanced policy discussion…uh I mean disarray!
