Which, again, is something I don’t think people should be doing unless it’s their job. For everyone else, investing should be boring.

Here is the thing young guys don’t buy boring stuff. The choices are sports /E-sports betting, OR spending money on toys, OR investing in high flying story stocks. I’ve watched numerous guys over the years, including myself, make the transition, from sports betting or playing poker to, individual stocks and/or option trading, to sector ETF, to index funds.
Sure you may be able to convince a young guy, if you twist their arm to invest enough in the 401K to hit the company match. But good luck getting them buy VTI with their after tax money for many years.

Poor analogy time! Lots of young guys also really enjoy barebacking multiple serial partners and never getting tested for STIs. Regardless of their enjoyment its still a very bad idea to not to advise them at every opportunity to practice safe sex.

Likewise for how they should handle investment.

I don’t think young people should be analysing stocks.

Really nobody should be buying individual stocks. Even the people who do it professionally don’t have a great track record vs. just picking index funds or even selecting stocks at random.

In the aftermath of President Trump’s unhinged, embarrassing and frightful performance Tuesday night, we are told “the debate” was a dumpster fire, “the debate” was a low point in American politics, “the debate” was incoherent. The worst appearance by a U.S. president in history is magically transformed into a non-personified event — the debate itself. Why do so many headline writers, anchors and pundits fall into this trap?

This poor sense of “balance” still afflicts too many journalists, who become nervous that by reporting what is plain to see, they’re taking “sides.” But the only side they would be taking is that of truth: The president lacks impulse control. When threatened, he lashes out and blusters his way past scrutiny. The president is a racist (telling a white-supremacist group to “stand back and stand by” should be disqualifying in and of itself), an authoritarian bully (inciting his followers to intimidate voters at the polls) and untethered to reality. He was not “too hot” as Trump apologists claimed; he was too nutty.

If false balance was the major defect running through post-debate commentary, it was not the only one. Sadly, many of these media mistakes have gone unaddressed since Trump rode down his fake-gold escalator five years ago.

I was surprised to see even CNN reporters, had a tendency to describe the debate as grade school food fight. Implying that Biden and Wallace were throwing food, when there was exactly one person behaving like 3 year old throwing a temper tantrum.
