I thought Hillary pretty well manhandled him in Debate #3, for all the good it did.

I know that things are different now - Biden isn’t hated like Hillary, and Trump was more childish/annoying in this debate than (if memory serves) in 2016.

But I don’t really think a Trump is a thing that can be debated to meaningful effect. It’s just the old ‘Bart Simpson vs. Martin Prince for class president’ dynamic.

Children in the Muslim world will often say that when a parent responds to a question with “inshallah,” it signals an unfulfilled promise, while unreliable timekeeping is lightheartedly chalked up to “inshallah timing.”

“Yes, Joe Biden said ‘Inshallah’ during the #Debates2020 debate,” tweeted political commentator Wajahat Ali. “It literally means ‘God willing,’ but it’s often used to mean, ‘Yeah, never going to happen.’ Example: My wife: Will you finally pick up your socks? Me: Inshallah. No, saying inshallah doesn’t make you Muslim.”

Biden is a secret Muslim, like Obama!

There is only one way for Biden to defeat Trump:

I’ve seen the term Brokahontas bandied about for Trump in the past couple of days.

I’m gonna put this out there for your consideration. He wouldn’t have the balls to say it to her face.

After Years of Bothsiderism, NYT is Cagey on Whether They’re a Respectable Source of News

Yeah, I didn’t like the headline. But the bulk of the article seemed quite fair, and mostly reflected the worries most of us have about Biden’s health.

There is an equivalence mentioned, but it is to Pence not to Trump:

“By continuing to campaign after having been exposed to an infected person — Mr. Trump — on Tuesday night, Mr. Biden is flouting an important rule in public health, experts said. So, too, is Vice President Mike Pence, who met with the president in the Oval Office on Tuesday and plans to continue campaigning.”

And this part, at least, strikes me as worth saying:

"Dr. Irwin Redlener, an expert in pandemic response at the Earth Institute at Columbia University who briefly served on the Biden campaign’s public health advisory committee, described himself as satisfied that Mr. Biden and Mr. Trump had stood sufficiently far apart on the debate stage and suggested that the Biden team shared that view…

At the debate, Mr. Trump and Mr. Biden, both maskless, stood about 12 feet apart from each other, double the distance the C.D.C. recommends. But indoors, especially in a crowded space and when someone is speaking loudly and at length, as Mr. Trump was, any virus released from the president’s mouth could have traveled much farther than six feet, other experts warned…

“We only have a few weeks left to the election, and they want Joe Biden to have the ability to present himself to the American public,” Dr. Redlener said. “And the president’s recklessness has thrown things off track, and the Biden campaign is frustrated by that.”

But whatever his travel schedule, Mr. Biden should be tested every day at least until Oct. 13, two weeks from the night of the debate, and probably even after that given his interactions with people on the campaign trail, experts said."

WaPo: " Both parties prepare for possibility of contested election as chaotic White House race hurtles to a close"

I’m sure their coverage of crime news is filled with headlines like, “Both bank, robber, involved in bank heist,” or “Killer, victim, both involved in murder.”

Luke Russert (of all people!) with the right take.

Media just can’t help themselves I guess. Michelle Goldberg cuts to the chase with her response.

Edit:
While we’re at it, NBC decides to host a town hall for trump.

Social media is a scary place (made the mistake of reading the Twitter comments). And as our communications and access to information centers more and more around it, it’s creating a scary society.

I can’t imagine what Trump’s people think he’s going to gain from a town hall.

“He’s been raging on Twitter for days now, coked up on whatever meds they’re giving him, and he was off the rails at the rally we held the other night. So what can we do to turn this around? Ohh! Town Hall! We’ll let average Americans ask him questions that are important to them. What could go wrong?!”

He’ll turn every question into attacks on Obama/ Biden/ Hunter Biden, or “Best Economy. EVAR.” bullshit. Doubt it will come across well, but that’s what he’ll do. And just general boasting about imaginary accomplishments in general.

I can guarantee his (imaginary) number of Nobel prizes will come up.

Trump’s people don’t control Trump. He’s uncontrollable. His people are only there to confirm everything he believes and tell him that all his ideas are awesome.

Everyone else has been jettisoned by now.

Don’t forget about his incredible health care plan. I’m sure he will be announcing that (again).
