I’m a big fan of The Hidden, and also of the Denzel movie Fallen. The latter is definitely worth a watch if you haven’t seen it.

Norah O’Donnell coming with the heat:

I love that.

Just burst into good-natured laughter and a stupid question gets canceled.

Wow. That question was awkward and forced. What a weirdo.

Fox and Friends couldn’t come up with a worse question.
“Is that socialist?” What the actual fuck?

Yep, her response is pitch perfect.

I watched all of that 60 Minutes episode last night on CBS All Access. Good stuff. I’ve never been a big fan of Leslie Stahl, but she was really good. I love her “we can’t air accusations that we can’t verify” (although they did air it anyway), it made Trump think that a large part of that interview wouldn’t even make it on air, even though it did.

I thought she did really well at being polite and nice to him while not taking any of his nonsense at face value.

Norah O Donnell was pretty good too. Basically her whole line of questioning was “this is what you’re being accused of”, which is reasonable, it’s the only way to be tough in this kind of situation where one side is just making up stuff. Just put it out there as a question and let them respond to it. The above question about whether that’s a socialist perspective came in a segment where she was talking about how Trump is accusing Biden of kowtowing to the progressives.

I mean, you don’t have to do that. You can just be tough on her actual record/positions.

I don’t agree. There is no reason for a journalist to repeat spurious political attacks in the same language the attackers are using. If you want to know what the candidate would do, ask them specific questions about what they would do. Don’t ask them if they aren’t secretly Stalin.

Man, it feels so good to just watch someone laugh out loud in the face of patent bullshit. The last 5 years of our national life seem to be crying out for that kind of incredulous laughter from serious people.

It reminds me of that moment in The Two Towers when Saruman is speaking from his tower, trying to get them to join him, and all the guys around Gandalf are thinking “we’re screwed, Saruman is clearly persuading him” - and then Gandalf just starts laughing.

It’s so great, not laughing derisively or revealing annoyance at the question but instead coming off as genuinely tickled by it. We need more of this! Elect the likable laughers!!

NYT doing the important stuff.

I would be willing to wager that Trump voters’ refrigerators are full of more confrontational, authoritarian foods.

And Dems have lots of kale, tons of kale. And ground turkey.

Shit, guilty on the ground turkey. To be fair it’s because my wife thinks cows are too cute to eat.

Generally they keep body parts in their freezers, right?

The “Anonymous” NYT op-ed author has come forward.

Youch.

Easily one of the best burns I’ve seen in a while.

Not an article on the mainstream media per se, but an outlet with aspirations. Unlike OAN, you’ve probably read one of their pieces in the past, or at least seen of the headlines on China.

(The Atavist, hence very long. Damn good read though).
