Greenwald knowingly and purposely burned Reality Winner, right?
Greenwald spent the Obama administration being very concerned that Obama might be a tyrant with a reckless contempt for rule of law … and he spent last four years being very concerned that poor old Donald Trump was being undermined by the Deep State (no really, he used the term.)
He was a Russian asset. No, I don’t have a smoking gun for that (other than how do you afford that fancy mansion on an investigative journalist’s salary, Glenn?) but it’s the most parsimonious explanation of his tortured, nonsensical viewpoints on various issues. And it explains why he’s going down for a “story” that’s utter gibberish. Cutting ties with the Intercept is the best thing that could happen to the Intercept in terms of their reputation. In terms of their cash flow … we’ll see.

In his resignation email, he blames the “Reality Winner debacle” on his New York editors.
You don’t have to be actively and knowingly run by an intelligence service to be an asset (as a term of IC art). Glenn was absolutely an asset, just as the President* is.

I’m really not sure what happened to Glenn that made his brain rot. I think part of it was he perceived himself as Daniel Ellsberg after Snowden passed on his docs to him and it served as confirmation bias that everything is corrupt all the time and that he, Glenn Greenwald, is the only one who is privy to the facts and can see the truth. I get the impression that he supports Trump out of perverse desire to see the United States burn to the ground.

Greenwald has been like this for a long freaking time. He’s always been a Russophile, who buys into Russian propaganda, which is specifically designed to harm the United States.
It’s just that the Democrats didn’t used to have the same awareness of exactly how bad the Russians are.

I don’t understand how we have a body count over 230,000 and climbing yet so many people still have a “lol r u scared” attitude.
3,000 Americans died on 9/11 and we invaded unrelated countries, abducted people off of the streets in foreign countries, and tortured them all in the service of nevar again!!!1. 230,000 people die and it’s eyerolls from these morons.

4 people died in Benghazi and we had four years of Senate hearings.
This.
There is a Mitch McTurtle commercial airing in my area that criticizes Amy McGrath for comparing the feeling of seeing Donald Trump elected to the feeling of seeing 9-11 happen, and it’s big “gotcha” line is to say indignantly “3000 Americans died on 9-11!”.
So far, COVID-19 has killed as many people as SEVENTY FIVE 9-11’s. While every single one of those deaths wasn’t going to be preventable, we could have held the body count to 50 9-11’s, or maybe as few as 25 9-11’s, if only our Federal response hadn’t been such a disaster and if we hadn’t allowed a worldwide pandemic to become part of American identity politics. Donald Trump is responsible for this, and that message needs to be repeated loudly and often because at least 30% of America still doesn’t seem to understand.

Because it wasn’t in an explosion.
Like, that’s it. If we’d lost 230k people in an explosion, like Spokane just blew up, completely and utterly, on live TV, people would be all : “Holy shit, we can’t let whatever happened in Spokane happen again!” Instead, people died all over the place in hospitals and our President decided that even acknowledging it made him look bad so it became a political issue right when a political party had gone full Jim Jones.
Also 9/11 helped because there were brown foreign people who worship God wrong to blame. You could even blame people you saw on the street for it, because all those brown people who worship God wrong are the same anyway. Also it took… basically zero effort to pay them back. Maybe someone you heard of in high school went over there and took a bullet for you, but you got to keep doing the same shit you always did. It’s not like they brought back the draft. You could forget it ever happened for the most part.

I just received a “preview” copy of the Epoch Times, unbidden.
Weirdly aligned with the Atavist article, the headlines is “Universities Failed to Report 6.5 billion in Foreign Funding”.
The rest of it is both siderism with a helping of “liberals are the problem” as well as a big section on meditation and well being. It’s pretty crazy seeing this through the lens of the Falun Gong connection.
Yep, there’s actually a whole page article about persecution of the Falun Gong, right next to an article blaming China for the COVID-19 virus and coverup.
Even weirder, and more local, is that a Chinese billionaire hired protestors and sent them from out of town to protest a local Chinese preacher who ran a Chinese charity, they accusing him of being a “Chinese spy”, when it’s possible or likely that the billionaire is the spy.
It’s weird to see America become a proxy battleground for Chinese dissidents, agitators, and separatists.
I’ve been seeing tons of Epoch Times ads on Youtube, usually with some bespectacled guy saying something like “the idea of buying Greenland isn’t actually crazy. Here’s why!” or whatever.
I’m sympathetic to any group that opposes Chinese oppression, but I’m also kinda worried about American oppression these days…
Plot twist, he burned his own tractor for the insurance money, then blamed the liberals/blacks.
Note : I didn’t read the article because paywall, so I’m just throwing out snark.
CNN, in sharp contrast, is having none of it, running this as a banner headline on its main page:

It’s pretty sad to get shown up by an outfit like CNN.
It’s amazing how shit quality hats those red MAGA hats are. I grew up in rural Ohio, and even the guys I knew who wore hats 100% of the time would turn up their noses at those shit hats. And they look especially shitty on DJT.
