Google Fi’s a good provider, and has all the TMobile towers plus the Sprint coverage.

T-Mobiles new ad campaign: Simply Not Traitors and Racists

$833 left on my iPhone 12 Max, and T-Mobile has a program that will refund up to $800 to pay off your existing phone. Sounds like a plan!

I’m giving everyone credit. TLP, Oliver, half the internet. It’s a team effort.

Yeah seriously. it couldn’t be happening to a nicer business daddy.

Did the the lincocln project do anything? I feel like I deserve as much credit, if not more, for AT&T’s stock price drop.

I take all the shit I said about the Lincoln Project back (I didn’t trust them).

WOW. That is an amazing ad.

Did that actually run on any TV networks?

This is the crux of it, they make good ads but viral retweets from those that agree with them are basically meaningless. They’ve kind of mastered the art of preaching to the choir.

Eh, maybe? In this case, you’ve gotten a few million people who have seen it at this point, and we’re not talking about influencing voters. We’re talking about influencing consumers.

When it comes to boycotting corporations, that kind of thing actually can have impacts. Not sure if it actually WILL of course, but groups like Sleeping Giants had non trivial impacts in the past, despite existing entirely in the twittersphere.

Paid off my iPhone 12 Max and unlocked it this morning. Going to switch at the T-Mobile store later today.

FWIW, T-Mobile upped its deal to providing up to $800 in a digital prepaid card to pay off whatever you may owe on your device. Now it’s up to $1,000, depending on device.

So I save $800, and I get to say Fuck AT&T. And if I’m reading correctly, T-Mobile’s best plan is $47 with taxes and fees included. That seems like considerable savings alone.

I haven’t had time to research, but I’m interested in moving away from AT&T. If you end up pulling the trigger, please share details!

I’m definitely curious, myself.

I figure T-Mobile’s coverage is going to be pretty good where I’m at, as their US HQ is in Seattle.

T-Mobile is terrible over here on Bainbridge for some reason. It’s a shame because their rates for veterans are fantastic.

Okay, I can officially say (in my best Logan Roy impersonation) “Fuck Off” to AT&T.

I am now a subscriber of T-Mobile.

Switching was fairly painless. There’s a T-Mobile store a few miles down the road. Walked in, and got an immediate sit-down with an employee. Entire process took about 20 minutes. I had come prepared, so my iPhone 12 Pro Max was already paid off and unlocked (unlocking from AT&T took about 10 seconds from submit to done!)

Paid $30 to switch.

Magenta Max is actually $47/line if you have three lines. I only have one line, so it’s $85/month, which is basically the same as AT&T. I get a $5/month discount for automatic bill pay. And they do subsidize your Netflix streaming. That’s a bit more complicated.

Max gets a Netflix SD streaming account included with the plan. Or, if you choose, you can upgrade to Netflix HD or UHD plans, and they are subsidized by about $9/month.

If you have an existing Netflix plan, you have to use the T-Mobile app and do a song and dance to basically switch the billing to let T-Mobile handle the Netflix subscription, with the aforementioned discount. So I was paying $13.99/month for HD streaming, and now I’ll pay $5/month.

Where it gets a bit more complicated is if, like me, you also have the disc plan. The process basically makes you create a new streaming account to associate with T-Mobile. The disc plan stays on your old account. And then make sure to cancel streaming on the old account.

Anyways, this seems all a bit off-topic for the thread, but to get back to topic, I’M GLAD I’M NOT SUPPORTING INSURRECTIONISTS ANYMORE. Fuck off, AT&T.
