When I posted that I was mainly making fun of CNN’s idea of the average american family. Now I’m self conscious about my milk consumption. I own an espresso machine. Seven days a week, 3 cappuccinos a day, maybe six ounces milk in each. Damn, I down a gallon a week. And it’s the whole, not the weak stuff.

What….cappuccino brand? 21 times a week? Addiction? Just curious…(/pulls up stock trading app)

I also own an espresso machine, but my poison of choice is ice, espresso, a bit of milk. I drink three a day, and C drinks three a day, but we don’t get close to a whole gallon of milk a week between us.

Just decaf San Francisco Bay Coffee that we get at costco. The wife has high blood pressure so we gave up the caffeine, somewhat limiting bean choice.

Oh god no wonder you’re drinking so much! Trying to get that 1% of caffeine that slipped through.

Weird. We buy a quart of milk, for my Rice Krispies and her coffee. It usually lasts long enough to go bad. :P

When did this turn into the Milk thread?

Ok, I guess I’ll participate. I don’t drink much milk. But ever since our Walmart stopped selling real yogurt instead of the gelatin kind, we make our own yogurt, so part of the milk goes towards that, and part is just that we have a young child. So we end going through about 2-3 gallons a week of Vitamin D Milk.

Aldi theoretically sells real yogurt, but it tastes terrible. Aldi is so good for so many things, but their yogurt, yuck.

GOMAD or go home.

I was born in '61, and while I don’t eat sugary cereals* I do eat about a half cup of plain Cheerios accompanied by blueberries and 1% milk most weekday mornings.

*we didn’t really get those at home, my mom was of the “a scrambled egg and a slice or two of toast” school. In college when I lived in the dorms I’d sometimes eat Cap’n Crunch and the like as dessert.

Cereal is fine but Sun-maid Raisin Bread is the carb bomb I need in my life. It has to be Sun-maid! I’ve tried all the others! Don’t settle for mediocre seconds!

WaPo headline: “Most Americans charged in Jan. 6 riot had no ties to far-right groups.”

Of course, to be factually accurate that would have to mean most charged didn’t watch Fox News, or know anything about the modern Republican party.

… Oh wait, silly me. According to WaPo, white supremacy doesn’t count as far-right if it’s coming from Tucker Carlson or Donald Trump.

Amash was run out of the party, but let’s talk to fat boy about what Trump’s taint smells like and if that was the reason he finally came around on supporting him.

I accidentally bought a ‘lowfat’ version of Greek yogurt last time, and it is almost like jello.

I drink about a pint of milk a day, plus the occasional bowl of cereal, so the numbers don’t seem totally crazy to me. But I am also aware I’m an outlier

We are just so screwed. Our media continues to let GOP talking points define everything, search breathlessly for democrats in disarray stories, while simultaneously publishing articles on why democrats can’t get their message across.

Today’s CNN headlines start with how Bannon has undercut the Jan. 6th commission complete with a recording of Bannon’s speech after he was released. So right off they are giving their front page platform to an insurrectionist.

After that the headlines are regarding Liz Cheney’s expulsion from the party. News sure, but the #2 story going on in the country today? This is supposed to be a general news site, not political teen beat (I mean we have Politico for that).

Next, bad news from the CDC, some idyllic island put on the list of high risk destinations. Doesn’t seem like a real big story but guess you got to get some doom and gloom in there.

Then, Russia blows up a satellite. Okay, sure, a significant thing to report on.

Then a whole section with multiple Rittenhouse stories. Sure, even if it is essentially rubbernecking it is a big story in the country today and does belong among the top.

Then something about the democrats, and of course it is the “exclusive” on the Veep in disarray.

Finally we get to Biden’s agenda, and how do we do that, with a headline:
“Biden’s lack of victory lap is a bad omen for the party” (linking the article “Americans are not hearing Joe Biden right now” article I linked in another thread).

Then and only then an actual article about the bill being signed into law.

Then we get an analysis of the bill! Wait, no, not of what’s in it but how Biden’s strategy differed from the last two democratic disarray presidents!

Finally an article “four projects that could be funded by the bill”. Wow, someone at CNN actually took time out from manufacturing democrats in disarray stories to identify a whole four projects!

Finally to counter this moment of actual reporting on the content of the bill:

“Late night heckles BIden’s infrastructure bill win”.

Yep, we’re doomed.

Feels that way. I’m expected shocked Pikachu faces all around once the GOP takes over and they realize the Trumpists really mean it when they call the mainstream media the enemy of the people.

Yeah, I can’t figure out why the seemingly intelligent staff of these places can’t figure out that the best case scenario for them under GOP autocracy is either a job reporting whatever the state tells them to or unemployment. The worst doesn’t bear elaboration.

In your best case, they’re still getting invited to parties.

Panicky media coverage of variant about which we don’t know enough to be concerned causes stock market to plunge. Media then solidifies plunge through panicky reporting of market drop.

We really are screwed, there’s just no sense of responsibility anymore with these people.
