I remember being annoyed at the glibness of that title when I first saw it on a store shelf. The dedication at least puts a bit more depth on it, though it of course doesn’t address the question of whether anybody should have gone off to Vietnam to die in the first place. Anyway, I give Mr. O’Rourke credit for not following the Right all the way down its current rabbit hole.
Hey, we all were playing computer games long before it was cool, dude. That makes us even cooler than this guy.

What is it with people whose last names rhyme with DeSantis?

How is it that these people are willing to get themselves interviewed for publication in a newspaper or magazine? I mean, seriously, would you hire that person to manage a project after a quick search pulls up the information that shows she’s incapable of managing a budget?
I suspect she’s just oblivious to how this looks. She’s a poor-little rich girl with an enormous salary at Amazon, but OH HER LIFE IS SO DIFFICULT!
I’ve only seen the twitter screenshots of the article, not the full article, but what about it suggests she’s unable to manage a budget? My takeaway from the screenshots was that piece was about people tied to big mortgages wishing they had known that COVID would be around long term. If they had known that working remotely long term was an option they wouldn’t have stayed in a pricey coastal city.
OMG. From the same article:
“Nobody ever told me that farming is hard” is…really a statement.
Well, to be fair, Eva Gabor did.
They sound like all the idiots that buy their favorite neighborhood bar when the owner retires thinking how awesome it will be to hang out with their buddies and own the place and it will magically run itself.
Indeed. Speaking from experience, having a partner who has a lot of experience in bar management is critical to success. Running a bar is exhausting, hard work.

There’s definitely something to write about around the premise. I love the house I bought in 2020, but if I knew there was zero expectation of going into the office again that would’ve radically changed my search parameters.
But then they had to go and NY Times it up.
There’s not a lot of sympathy for someone who flies to Rome for three days whenever they crave pasta.
That’s what happens when you neglect to inquire about the size of the chicken talons.
NYT no longer reports any news and is the full time business of clickbait trolling.
