“This… is OAN.”

Speculation that Meet the Press may chuck Todd.

Good riddance. I’m sure the NYT would have him.

Is this a surprise?

I hadn’t heard anything about him leaving before.

I just saw that as well. I’ve been seeing rumblings online about some Trump aligned investor calling the shots now. I didn’t really put any stock in it, but seeing people like Harwood abandoning ship makes one wonder.

I assume you’re referring to John Malone.

Emphasis mine. This is not by coincidence. For years the GOP and the right wing especially have disliked CNN, and Trump ramped up that dislike into to a pure hatred of the network. In the corporate world there is no better way to take down your opposition/competition than from within, and Malone saw a way to do that by merging Discovery (of which he was a controlling shareholder) and CNN. His gaslighting about “more centrist” and “actual journalism” is all lies. He simply wants to reinvent CNN as a right-leaning network and use its reputation to further the cause of the Trump GOP. While Fox News and OAN will continue to spew the pure GOP garbage they always have, CNN will now feature “both sides” content in an attempt to seem moderate while also giving right wing guests and content an air of credence and normalcy.

The fact that this is happening in journalism in America is terrifying. In a few short weeks CNN will have gone from a well-respected source of worldwide journalism to a Republican propaganda machine. This is a way bigger threat to democracy than the January 6th attack, and yet it’s getting very little attention in the media or anywhere else.

Eh…

I mean, it is the network that hired Nancy Grace and Corey Lewandowski.

Fair and Balanced lite

THIS is (the new) CNN!

Also, the old CNN.

Also old CNN.

We’ve got a whole new Verge for you today. Radically new. Sometimes you just have to blow things up and start over.

Yes, we have a sharp new logo that started with the idea of an unfinished interface between the present and the future. Yes, we have a bright new color palette that highlights our work in confident new ways. Yes, we have new typefaces across the board, including serifs for our body copy. Look at these ink traps in our new headline font, Poly Sans. I love them.

Our goal in redesigning The Verge was actually to redesign the relationship we have with you , our beloved audience.

My first impression, hate it.

Also, you don’t blow stuff up that’s working.

The Verge’s website was not working. It was a bloated mess.

Guess that explains the blowing up part then. Still not a fan of the new look, but then I’m not the target audience, so I guess carry on.

I like the new site. It seems much easier to find things. I’m not a fan of it being black though. Luckily, if you click on an actual article, the background is white.

Apparently one of the problems they identified with their old logo was that people could read it.
