Will they make her dye her hair blonde?

Fuck it, they’ll do it live.

Fuckin’ thing sucks!

Perhaps mainstream media learned their lesson? Will they be able to avoid the temptation of giving Trump the thousands of hours of free airtime they previously gifted him?

Even Fox didn’t show the entire thing.

Mayyyybe we’ll be able to watch him slowly die before we get to watch him actually die.

… But nonetheless, Fox showed more of Trump’s speech live than the broadcast networks (none), MSNBC (none), and CNN (partial.) Which is why folks should take the whole “Fox has turned their back on Trump” narrative with a grain of salt: they’re still more in the Trump business than any other major media player.

Mind you, the article makes this seem a lot more of a change than it is - because when it comes to the broadcast networks, it is in fact not a change. It’s not like ABC/NBC/CBS interrupted their prime time network shows for Trump’s announcement back in 2015. (So far as I can tell, Trump’s 2015 announcement was in the morning, and I can’t find any reference to ABC/NBC/CBS airing it live, though I’m pretty sure Fox and CNN did.)

Arguably a better headline would be, “Trump schedules campaign announcement time in prime time to maximize live viewership on Fox.”

I put this in the “Trump 2024” thread, but maybe it fits better here. The New York Post, of all publications, handled the Trump announcement better than anyone else:

Based on something I had read online earlier both Hannity and Ingraham showed only portions of the speech and then said they would go back if there was anything newsworthy.

I think Fox would prefer DeSantis at this point.

Stop trying to cheer me up.

This is a magazine story about a nice white woman who (checks notes) killed two young boys by running them over with her Mercedes while driving drunk.

Yeah, she should have been in the CIA, then Biden would protect her.

That whooshing sound? You know what that was, right?

You not knowing about Sacoolas.

(And yes, I know the republicans are at least as bad and almost certainly worse on this kind of thing, but “better than the GOP” is an awfully low bar).

Pubs are definitely open, huh?

The article has nothing to do with Republicans or Democrats; nothing to do with official cover up of any crimes. The objection to it has nothing to do with those things. It’s about media. You’re in the wrong thread.

Isn’t that the plot of Bonfire of the Vanities?

I think 80s retro has gone far enough at this point.

Wow that article is a pretty laughable puff piece. The whole tone of it is off and in addition the facts that are selectively presented present a very skewed picture of the evidence. For example, the article mentions some posts by Grossman’s daughter that 2 Breathalyzer tests taken by Grossman after the accident showed she “blew under the legal limit”. The evidence is that she blew 0.076% on one test (I couldn’t find info on the other test). What’s the legal limit in CA? 0.080% so while she technically “blew under the legal limit” she was right at it. Also a blood test taken 3 hours later showed 0.070% which is strong evidence that her level was above the legal limit at the time of the accident, unless she had herself another sip of the booze after the accident.

The article makes it seem like maybe she wasn’t drunk but it’s clear that she had been drinking and was either at or over the legal limit. That’s just one of they many ways the article was framed as a puff piece.

So just a bad article all around.

Her team 100% paid for the article. LA Mag got bought and gutted by private equity five years ago.

It also doesn’t mention she was going 40mph over the speed limit, or that she was over the legal BAC when the officers ran a more accurate blood draw test.

That poor woman. How can she be expected to direct the servants in preparing Thanksgiving dinner for the family with this awful inconvenience hanging over her head?

No, I’m reliably informed this is Joe Biden’s doing.
