Maniac - Netflix, Jonah Hill and Emma Stone are superbadder with Fukunaga

It wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t amazing either. The art direction was great, but for only 10 episodes, lot of it was a boring filler. Last two episodes did save it a bit, particularly the icelanding one was great. Fukunaga stretching those one take muscles was fun.

I like the setting, but the serie depend to much on having the viewer in the dark whats going on. You decide if thats a good storytelling device.

We live in a world where people can watch all TV series on demand, and everyone is genre-aware as hell. In a movie we know the Sean Bean character is going to die before we even heard about the movie title. So maybe having the viewers in the dark is a good thing. I dunno.

The characters on the serie are likeable, but a bit like cheap chinese clones of The Fight Club.

We finished the other day. Trippy, weird, enjoyable.
