March 2017 NPD - Switch, Ghosts, Zelda, and GTA

First, let’s take a look at the breakdown:

NPD analyst Sam Naji commented, "March 2017 will go down in history books as the month Nintendo broke records. The Nintendo Switch had the biggest hardware launch for a Nintendo platform and the second biggest launch for any video game platform since 1995, the time NPD began tracking this category.

“In this debut month (month 1), the Nintendo Switch sold 31K more units than previous best-selling Nintendo month-1 platform, the Game Boy Advanced, which released back in June 2001. The two Nintendo Switch SKUs, the 32GB Gray Joy-Con, followed by the 32GB Neon Red/Blue Joy-Con, were the best-selling systems for the month.”[/quote]

But wait! We get a lot more thanks to Sam Naji from NPD:

Can’t believe folks are still buying COD IW in those numbers.

Go buy Titanfall 2, people!

Sheeet. Small-time, man! Look at GTA V! That’s crazy!

Freudian slip?

Whoops! Fixed!

GTA V is going on four years old. Who is left that hasn’t bought it yet?!

I’m guessing there’s millions who are on their second copy since they released the current gen and PC version.

…that would be me.

Wow, that’s depressing.

What else did you expect to find in the list with no digital sales included apart from all those big franchises and AAA titles?

Which title(s) were you looking for?

It’s not so much missing titles, as the fact that Ubisoft are clearly never going to release another single-player focused new IP.

I’m afraid of what they would do if the came out with a new Splinter Cell game…

Indoors Wildlands

Ah, no digital sales…
I know I’ve asked this before, but how much of the market is digital vs physical these days? I know I haven’t bought a physical copy of a game in at least a few years. Pushing a button and having a game download onto my machine is just infinintely better.

Sorry. Discourse error. It doesn’t like the lone asterisk. I’ve fixed the post.

Some of the titles do have digital included. Only the ones with * don’t have digital data.

Ahhh, ok, so presumably if some game had tons of digital sales it’d make the list. Gotcha.
