I like the changes they made to Rocket. Don’t play him often, but he’s a great run now and then.
ACHIEVEMENTS OR GTFO!!!1!
-Tom
The notes say “Achievements System (testing in 6 weeks, releasing in 8-10 weeks).” So, October-ish.
Also, new code HAPPYTHURSDAY for an Energy Rush XP boost.
The code GUARDIANS gets you one of those snazzy new, temporary, Guardians boosts.
I hit 15 bark last night (this was the wrong week to be away on holiday saturday/sunday/monday/tuesday!) and picked up the rare artifact crate. Got my first Gem Of The Kursed. Ohhhh yeah. I’ve had a good 2 crate run now - the Black Tom’s from the shells version of the crate went straight onto someone who needed it and this will go on someone as soon as I get around to reviewing builds.
Edit: One other thing. I watched a stream of a green raid last night and with the exception of Surtur, it’s really easy. If anyone wants to try raids, getting into a group of randoms this weekend should at least get you to Surtur.
Grats on the Gem of the Kursed. I have the worst luck with random loots - I have only gotten one crimson box and it had the Taskmaster’s Fighting Guide For Losers or some such in it. I really hate farming for gear so I have never gotten a Hand of Doom or a GotK or the Mental Headband so it would have been nice to see one of those! As an aside, I love it when I’m reading about some random dude’s build and 2 of the 4 artifacts mentioned are those… like, sure, lemme just pop one in! (Plus the fact that 90% of all builds you see list a purple O’Grady insignia as what you should use… yeah, lemme get out my stack of them and equip one!). Of course I don’t do much trading and I’m sure that’s how people get a lot of those items.
I re-specced Rocket last night and tell the truth, he seems about the same to me. I had a pet build before and I have one now and he feels equally squishy and seems to kill stuff about as fast as before. I do find the signature a bit more difficult to use since it’s one of those ‘spam this 4x in 15 seconds’ abilities.
I played StarLord to around level 26 last night and enjoyed him. Like most people I’m staying away from the elemental tree (I did sample a few abilities there but mostly am using ship abilities and the cryo grenade). Haven’t had more than the usual trouble staying alive with him. I don’t like how the starship abilities all have a bit of a delay on them - seems easy to miss if the mobs are moving around. But I do like his signature, as it blows up tons of stuff on the screen!
When builds reference the rare artifacts I just look at what their most important stats are and pick something similar but more common (and obviously not quite as good). I like the build threads that offer a nice list of potential stuff for those of us without the rare artifacts. The Wolverine build I followed does a nice job of that for pretty much every piece of kit on him, I think.
Rocket has been my favorite character in MH for a long time, so I was excited for the review. Wound up trying a guns only build (except for one point in the slow turret and groot). It’s pretty fun, and I appreciate the damage mobility.
I had the same issue with the signature - it’s a great effect, the little blue mushroom cloud - but I’m so determined not to miss one of the four uses that I wind up not being able to appreciate the great fx as a rapi-spam it on whatever target. I like that the rocket model changes gun based on which basic you have equipped, though. In the end, I don’t feel particularly stronger or weaker, just different.
I used the ultimate mech suit once and it was great, but it has the problem of needing to know the tooltips for an ability you can only use once every 10 minutes or so. Great fx, though, and I felt badass while doing it.
I ahven’t played rocket since beta, but I NEED to find a way to afford the movie costume. lol
Nah, just hire Nolan North to stand behind you and say the lines.
Out if curiosity, why are you avoiding Star Lords elemental tree? I’ve put most of my points there and the air gun is awesome, especially among mobs as it bounces all over the place.
Just started this game last week. Does QT3 have a supergroup or a list of users ids I can add to my barren friends list?
Everything I read about it on the Marvel Hero forums talks about how it’s clunky and fiddly; you have to regularly load a specific element and the ammo runs out before you can reload it, so unless you’re putting points in 2 different elements you end up having to use a shot that’s lower in power (due to lack of elemental ammo). Plus the damage from that tree is lower than the other trees.
It’s nothing that can’t be fixed, and if you like it, that’s cool. And someone on the forums will probably make me a liar and come up with some sort of awesome elemental gun build. But for now I’m not putting a lot of points in it.
That said, I’ve been reading about the water gun providing some relief for spirit issues, so I may throw a few points in water to see what I think.
Mouselock and Tom are the people you can contact ingame about getting in the SG.
you can add me, Freakchaud, to your list in the meantime.
Confession: I should have bought the mega pack. I may (or may not) hate you all for talking this game up. That could just be my wallet talking, though.
I’ve not had time to play much recently. If someone else plays a lot it might be worth seeing if Tom can meet them for officerization to supplement.
It’s not for the voice, it’s for the costume!
I’m on for an hour two most days in EST evening and would be willing to be an invite-mule (no leading, I’m so burned out on guild/outfit/etc leadership role-filling!*). Shockingly, I’m Calelari in-game.
- Not that this a problem in the typical QT3 game org :) **
** Probably need to warn new players about that. ***
*** QT3 tends to flock to a game, create a massive guild, then slowly dwindle to near-nothing.
I think we have decent player longevity, but for the most part I never see folks talk in guild or anything. So if someone wants a social and/or game oriented group they should probably look elsewhere? (We -might-, accidentally, one day get enough folks together to poke a raid. Maybe. :) )
I’ll take a QT3 supergroup invite next time you’re on - my ingame name is NovaAlex.

Count me in too! My play time is sporadic, but when I’m on I’d love to join in.
