And you can switch characters in public zones, so you go smack Bullseye, leave the building, switch characters (which resets the quest), then go back in. Repeat ad nauseum.
The same holds for picking up the extra skill points. Once you’ve done it once with a single character in all three difficulty modes, you can get all 12 skill points in maybe 20 minutes once you have the rhythm down. Switch to a character with the waypoint, exit the building into a public zone if needed (chapters 2 and 4), switch characters, complete the quest. Switch back to original character and port to next waypoint. make sure you have your bodyslide for grabbing the point in chapter 9, which doesn’t require you to fight anything.
He’s too fiddly for my tastes, but I can certainly understand why some people like him. That’s one of the advantages to having so many characters, they can do a complex character like that which simply won’t appeal to a large percentage of players.
Thanks again Misquided, that sounds like a great way to gather up all the rewards. One thing I’m really loving is that they give you a bunch of ways to get XP and loot. I’ve been going back and forth between the terminals, midtown and the story missions and have yet to try out the holo trials or the X-defense missions. I think I’ve also figured out why I enjoy Colossus so much, he reminds be of the barbarian in D3, which is my favorite class. All the jumping and stomping and shouting, just feels so good. I keep meaning to try out my other heroes, but then I go to run a daily or two on Colossus and before I know it, its time to stop.
Unbelievable (for me, at least): I was just in a PuG XDefense group at we got through wave 29. 10 Defender tokens. (2 Star Lords, a Storm, me (Silver Surfer)). The final chest rained cosmics and a couple of Uniques. Seriously, the screen was filled with yellow.
Oh nice - congrats at hitting 29. I got to the highest wave I’ve seen in X-Def tonight - 19 in a PUG with my Wolverine. I got 2 or 3 uniques in amongst other things, which was nice. I usually get the furthest when I take Surfer. Afterwards I thought “fuck it” and used the level 20 unique box on Wolverine to finally get his slot 1. I’ve never had one drop so of course I got 3 at 20. Then I opened the night’s Daily Quest chests and got one at 60. Obviously. Oh universe, you are quite the trickster.
Lots of stuff in this week’s patch, including a new recurring (one week every month, it sounds like) Cosmic Chaos event thing. Check out the various threads in the Test Centre forum here.
I know Surfer and Storm are crazy good but the 2 Star Lords were a real surprise for me. I realized we were in for an epic run when we hadn’t lost a civvie through 14 waves. Sorry to hear about your duplicates. Guess you’ll just have to play more. :)
Btw, I love Gambit and Black Panther and used to love Loki, but there’s something about Silver Surfer, especially his movement build. No doubt the movement/melee build is not the most efficient, but it is easily the most fun I’ve had in the game ever. I can circumnavigate the entirety of Midtown in seconds, leaving delicious death in my cosmic wake. Also, the decon (idol of Khonshu proc)–>supernova–>Death from Below–>Board Sweep combo is absolutely absurd AoE burst.
He was the first MH character I fell in love with, for the exact same reason.
Surfer is a lot of fun, and his movement build just feels good, IMO. I originally wanted to raid with him, but using EMF is so boring compared to his other powers.
Nice job on wave 29. I haven’t made it that far in x-defense in a long time.
That was me. I’m nowhere near elite, so I need to claim my victories where I can. :)
Oops, fixed.
Hoping to make some headway getting Gambit back to 60 during this cosmic event.
Anyone up for some holosimming tonight? (Lvl60) or cosmic terminals?

Yeah, I play Strange and Moon Knight fully geared. Both rule. Strange is micro-heavy and you’re never bored and rarely coasting during fights, which is something I like a lot.
Downed the first four raid bosses tonight. Lucked out and got the new slot 2 Apocalypse Armor, which may end up displacing The Mechanical Arms of Doc Oc off of Gambit.
Not sure I want to do raids at all, but if I decide I do…how’d you get started? Queuing up for green raids seems to go nowhere, and LFG chat is always looking for “geared, experienced” people. Catch-22…can’t do a raid without experience, can’t get experience without a raid.

ineffablebob, the sad fact is that you need to be in a supergroup that regularly raids, in order to raid. Public raids are never going to work, ever, because people are just flat out bad at this game (and that’s ok! as long as I don’t have to rely on them) and they’ve got the tolerances on the raids tuned too high (sorry, you don’t need BOTH a death counter AND an enrage timer for pick-up raiding. Ridiculous.)
Super congrats to Misguided for getting that Apocalypse armor, that’s a nice piece of kit.
Meh, that’s kinda what I thought, but I was hoping there was a better option. Guess I’ll just continue to ignore the raids until such time as I feel like dumping a bunch of time into it (read that as never…see backlog, Steam). Thanks, DDB.
Logged in today and looked around a bit at the new stuff. The various Doop-themed things you can buy with the new worldstone drops are kinda cool. Looking forward to upgrading an insignia or two to cosmic. On the downside, my Iron Man feels badly nerfed since he is only 45 and thus no longer has Jericho Bombardment. Have to get him a bunch of levels to get that back and leveled up, though I’ll probably take my time about it since he doesn’t feel nearly as cool now.
Better news…another new boost code, COSMICBUFF.

Ditto on Iron Man. Feels like a serious nerf and they still haven’t fixed his ultimate. But I understand the the changes and am looking forward to working on him.

ineffablebob, I would say that there’s still a chance that Raids will be fixed to actually be doable by the public but honestly after the Omega System “average player” fiasco I’m not even sure that Gazillion is listening to their player base very much.
I don’t think downing the first four bosses in a pug is all that hard to imagine. The last fight takes a fair bit of coordination.
Btw, anyone interested in Rogue, the items for sale from worldstones look to be stupidly good for her.
I think I’ve decided to save my worldstones for the “upgrade medallion to cosmic” even though it’s 400 stinking stones. I have just a hair over 200 though, so it’s not like it’ll take me all week. Of course, I have no idea what the materials for that recipe are, maybe I should look into that.
As for the other things to buy with worldstones, I have no idea what I should get. In general I think getting recipes is a good idea but not exactly sure. About the only thing I’m not really interested in is the doop pet.
Also, I have been having some really good luck recently. Got a lot of splinters from playing and even though I own 2/3 of the heroes out there, I decided to risk getting a random box - and I got Gambit, which was a new hero for me. Did it again the next day and got another new guy, Colossus. And my hard-luck Squirrel Girl got not 1 but 2 different uniques (one from a shared quest box I think even). So the RNG gods have been smiling on me this past few days.
I tried out Iron Man this morning (he just hit 56) and he doesn’t feel a ton different. The toggle powers seem like they could be interesting, and could give you more to do than spam a couple of abilities. I stuck them all on a second hotbar I can switch to so I can turn them on and off. I tried the one that gives you a lot more damage rating during a boss fight and ran out of spirit crazy fast. Aside from the toggles he seems pretty much the same to me.

I just started playing this and I’m considering buying a “Team Pack” from the web store.
https://store.marvelheroes.com/wsstore_en_us/team-packs.html
Does anyone have any recommendations as to which one I should buy?
Also, are there any recommendations for which starting hero to choose?
Many thanks! :)
