Yep, I have a stack of the balloon animals, they give a defense buff. Never bother using them, lol.

I have now spent a downright silly amount of money on this game, but still having a great time. The funny thing is I know there are players that spend waaaay more buying the card packs and such, which I have no interest in. There is a $100 pack of 150 Mk6 fortune cards. I may have bought the advance pack, but that’s 12 playable characters vs boosts and cosmetic items (and the aforementioned team-up).

Indeed. So far in the last 6 months (or less) I’ve bought the advance pack, the initial team-up pack, and the new team-up pack, plus $100 worth of Gs. I tend to draw the line at the cards after being burned buying a couple of packs early on and not seeing a single thing I was looking for (e.g. costumes). I actually got a costume out of the Mk. 5 (Deadpool pulp, not Hawkeye Fear Itself, alas). Was hoping for the team up, but no luck on my advanced pack Mk 6 bundle.

HOWEVER, I really think the Mk. 6 are the first ones where there didn’t seem to be much in the way of “Oh, THAT! Greeeaaat… eyeroll” from the cards. Stash/Holovendor cards? Never bought them, but I definitely see the utility, and I got two of each. At worst I got single buffs which I’ll probably use next time there’s a serverside boost, and I got a cosmic pentaboost, and stacks of 3 of a lot of the other stuff (which is a hell of a lot more compelling than a matrix of unbinding, which I’ve yet to use a single one of).

The funny thing with stuff like the pentaboosts is I’m less inclined to use them. I did get several yesterday, though. But yeah, I got the deluxe advanced pack and the second team-up pack (but not the initial one) and probably another 50. I thought about buying a larger amount of Gs when they had the bonus going and the larger quantities available, but I hesitated wondering what I’d spend it on. Then team-ups were announced right after it ended and I wished I had gone ahead and done it. Then again, the second team-up pack came with some nice bonuses, and I wouldn’t have bought it if I had gotten the Gs.

Agree. I have several sitting in my stash. Maybe I’ll try this week depending on the terminal to try for a hand of doom, or similar.

Use them both at the same time=more dps. Street sweep is very efficient cost-wise compared to the damage it can do, and is one of Gambit’s only options to layer damage (the other being House of Cards). The other thing that makes street sweep a godsend is that it is tagged as melee, so you can use it to heal yourself without having to close all the way into melee range when you are dealing with bosses with nasty abilities.

I’ll try rotating them then, especially in x-defense. I need to find more spirit though, probably for level 50 enchantment. Really good point about being tagged as melee though, thanks. Gambit’s damage is deceptive to me. I don’t feel like I’m hitting as hard, and then everything is down. Maybe the sound effects are lacking a bit for me, especially after playing Cap. The shield toss has a nice ‘thunk’ sound that feels like it hurts.

So despite me being a min/maxer to the core, I decided to play Nightcrawler based on a style choice and not a pure effectiveness one. Using primarily swords, avoiding most of the ‘overused’ abilities on him. It’s quite fun if for no other reason than I REALLY have to work to do well. It’s all about hit and fade, healing with the stealth while dots tick, then repeating. It feels epic, especially in the harder terminals and such. It definitely makes me wish that less of the game was about omgfacerolldpssmasheverything ;)

More power to you. I tried that with him and just got squished flat all the time. I’m not afraid to go against the grain build-wise either (and have done so with Gambit and Deadpool in particular) and am sometimes surprised how effective “non-optimal” builds can be.

Trying to get Moonknight to 50 for synergies, at 43 or so now and bored as hell. Other than his sig nothing on his kit makes me smile. Might pay a couple bucks for boosts just to be done.

Just a quick note for farming ARMOR drives:

If you have a Nightcrawler (or other teleporter with long range, not Loki I’m afraid) geared for farming, the Juggernaut interest is particularly quick to navigate. You can almost just put your mouse at the top edge of the screen and port all the way through the level by just hammering the teleport power. You can even teleport into the boss room.

I was averaging a red kill in just over a minute (would be far faster if it weren’t for having to dodge charge and wait for invuln). So figure something like 100 drives/hour.

Thanks for the tip. I could use Deadpool I suppose. Just not all that interested in farming the drives. Mostly ignoring the event so far. Got 2 drives earlier when hit Juggy terminal for an LQ while working on Gambit.

Probably everyone knows this (or I’m the only one who does Green terminals!) but as per the patch notes:

Green Terminal Juggernaut is not participating in the Bounty Hunter Week event due to his busy schedule. Red and Cosmic Terminal has all the Bounty Hunter goodness and challenges you to come get some.

I just ran a solo cosmic mandarin during the mandarin slot, he dropped nothing… I mean nothing at all. No anything. so weird. I got the chests for bounty, but just odd that he no drop

Yeah, Mandarin loot is broken. He’s one of the bosses that got a new item drop. Maybe that jacked up his loot table somehow.

ILOVEMOM for a boost.

I decided to push Ms. M to 50 for the synergies and finally have some powers I enjoy using: Stellar Flare and Crashdown Strike. I never expected my play style with her to be a combo of Luke Cage and Colossus. Stellar Flare is actually pretty sweet. It’s a pbaoe charge attack (ranged, unlike Luke) that has an implosion built into it. the radius is very large, and with a doc oc medallion becomes massive. Not sure I will continue to play her or not. I think she desperately needs an energy-based option for a single-target spender in her brawling tree.

Not enjoying the promotion this week (bounty hunter). When I play, I feel compelled to run the bonus terminals looking for uniques, or other goodies. But since I’m not very excited about running the same terminal all the time, I just haven’t played as much. I suppose I’ll play a bit more to turn the armor drives in to try to get more odin mark chests, but even that I’m not to excited about as there are far to many blah items in the boxes. (Oh boy, another worthless epic item…)

I am enjoying Gambit. He clears out the screen much faster then I would have thought, and handles bosses fairly well too. I could see prestiging him and going with a ranged build.

Finishing up my third Gambit prestige later today (at 57). I think I may finally be zeroing in on a long-term build…

One of the next things on my to-do list is to respec Colossus and look over his gear. I want to get him ready for raiding, get him a shield of Perseus, etc.

I’m really bummed at the design where it’s best to run through and ignore the entirety of content and rush the boss to kill it in a minute.

Some people love it, but I’m with you. Apparently the next event is going to be a glorious Midtown lootfest.

I didn’t get to play that much over the weekend (and not at all since) so I quite liked that I could hop quickly to the boss on at least one of the bonus pair when I got on.

I do like the sound of a Midtown lootfest a lot more though.

I like the sounds of the one-shot because it almost sounds more like a dungeon in a mmo where you don’t skip the trash
