Yeah, I wanted to have a bigger buffer. Generally, the only time I die is if I’m being really aggressive with using Infernal Contract just above 50% health. Amulet of Agamotto might help with that.

I’ve also spent considerable time on Ghost Rider building up a legendary (Shield of Perseus) for him and pushing his health upward from 20k to 29k in anticipation of raids.
What are you using on him to jump everything so high? I’m thinking of picking up GR again now that they sped up his bike movement power. I have a really hard time dealing w/ his voice and comments, especially his quick move that makes it sound like he’s swearing each time. At least I can cruise around w/ the bike now.
I’ve been playing a lot of Dr Strange and Gambit. I love both of them, for different reasons. Gambit is incredibly fluid, at least focused on melee. I’m getting his gungnir up to level 4 and will prestige him for ranged. Dr Strange I finally clicked with, and he’s fun to play just to watch the whole screen fill with big numbers and mobs melt away… As soon as I get his legendary to level 4, I’ll grab his new fear itself costume and play him again too.
I have to say though, the sentinel week leaves me pretty flat, especially after the midtown event. I’m also annoyed at the Psylocke release. She kind of sucks across the board. I won’t be pre-purchasing any more heroes, as it seems the last few have been disappointments out of the gate compared to previous efforts. Frustrating to watch them release and tune for a while. I’m still positive on the company, but Gaz is rushing stuff out to quickly lately.
Hopefully their big one year event will be great (June 4th?)
I started Psylocke and she seems rather lackluster to me. The psi-construct tree seems custom designed to complement one of the two other trees, rather than being a tree on its own, given the way psi points regenerate, but it seems that melee psi-construct plus ninja stuff doesn’t make much sense due to some bizarre decisions made by the dev team to have hybridized gear (e.g. gear with +dmg mental/physical) have different damage numbers per damage type. That just makes gearing a royal pain for hybrid damage type chars, which makes me want to stick with a single damage type.
This leaves psi construct and her third tree, which is clunky for me personally because I don’t want to be a ranged build, which is how it synergizes best. So I end up with only the psi-construct melee attacks, which generate psi points suboptimally compared to ninja attacks due to being a flat amount per strike rather than toggling on the regen. It just feels… jumbled.
Particularly after finishing levelling Dr. Strange to 60, where the whole “burn incantations to put up more incantations to keep uptime on all your AE spells” mechanic seemed so elegant.
On the plus side, Odin’s bounty again this week, except now bosses everywhere have a chance of dropping odin marks. To which I say “YAY!” because I hate chasing legendary quests through different game modes for marks. Sometimes I’m in the mood to follow the plotline and do story quests; others I want to just squish stuff in midtown, or chase gear in X-Def. However, if I want marks I have to go where the game tells me to. Now there’s at least some mark progress potential no matter where I am. (Otoh, for the bonus weekend, I think the ranking will now be MM >>>> X-Def > Terminals.)
Wonder if loot is still fubar. Seems like since the last patch everything drops like 3 items, no matter what it is, which is craptacular compared to the way loot was even before the massive buffs which occurred during the previous special events.)

Loot seems pretty blah to me. I haven’t seen a unique in a while. It seems early in the Midtown Madness week uniques were dropping quite a bit, then scaled down, to almost nothing now. I’ve played many X-Defs with no uniques dropping. I just want to get a shark for my Nightcrawler, but mostly given up on that for now.
What I’ve read in the Psylocke forums are that her stealth is pretty worthless to flat out broken. Exqzr comments here on Pyslocke: https://forums.marvelheroes.com/discussion/70836/hero-ladder-rankings-current-2-47-psylocke-misses-her-mark-the-discussion-begins/p37 Looks like there may be some defense to his post though, but in general I mostly agree with him.
Maybe since I haven’t played as long as others, but I’ve seen the great Dr. Strange release, and Black Panthers good rework, then its just been crap from Gaz, and the particularly unexciting team ups. While Gaz certainly piles on the events, they aren’t near Blizzards class in balancing or tuning of heroes, at least lately it seems. Testing more would go a long way I think. Things like dropping extra odin marks for legendary quests daily should not break.
Health-wise? Full health affixes on costume. Viking’s Vitality Runeword, Shield of Perseus, almost 2k health on Insignia (not Valkyrie, either), health on ring, cattle runes on slots 2-4.
I rather hate GRs personality. I’m willing to buy the Alejandra costume if her voice is less annoying.
None of the 2014 heroes are real favorites of mine so far.
They have the bogo up again. Grabbed Deadpool and Spidey. Got a second Daredevil token and Nightcrawler.

Regularly updated list of promo codes here.
Thanks, I had missed a couple of those.
Thanks for that.
However, as I always say, if not for bad luck, I’d have no luck at all. I own three heroes, and what does my box contain? That’s right: one I already own. That’s an 8.8% chance of containing one of those three heroes. It’s not just bad luck, but rather horrendous luck.
Don’t forget there’s a BOGO going on now. So if you have a little cash, you could always buy a cheap hero and get another random box.
I bought Squirrel Girl with splinters yesterday and rather liking her so far.
Make sure you are around to log in at least once during the anniversary week. One log in that week gets you 365 gifts, two of which have been confirmed as a free stash tab and a Punisher costume. So much goodness.

Yep. I don’t play the lottery for that very reason. I’d end up owing them money. :-p
I grabbed a code from that giveaway, and my box did at least give me a new hero; unfortunately, it was Wolverine.
My desktop’s been having problems lately, so I haven’t been able to do anything other than get login bonuses. I’m currently out of town visiting relatives, so I ended up installing the game on my laptop last night; even at absolute minimum settings for everything, I can’t actually play the game, but I can at least get my login bonuses on it.
Currently waiting for this to finish downloading, so I’ll see you guys some time next year apparently…
You going through steam? You should be…
No actually was just downloading it via their site. Got it downloaded, but having a problem with running out of memory (still running 32 bit win 7, old comp), so not sure I’ll be able to play this. I get maybe 20 seconds of play then poof. Shame, seems like something I would probably like. I run Pro Tools on this comp, which is notoriously fussy for OS etc, so not sure if I could actually run 64 bit.
I rotated through various characters over the weekend from my pile of guys & gals who aren’t doing the storyline. Thor… hmm. I saw some chat about how Thor isn’t very good and I thought “that’s not my experience at all!”. Then I remembered that I’ve not played him since they bumped up the strength of enemies the other week and yeah - he’s not fairing well (at level 47/48). I feel like neither my damage nor my defensive capabilities are up to par. I’m quite a casual player, in that I don’t put effort into idetifying the best gear to use or the best power combinations. I do have him recently respeced though, with what I felt was a vaguely sensible build (and a fun one, for me).
Another side effect of the recent enemy buff: I played my Cyclops for the first time in a while and hah! It turns out I needed to respec him to actually have some kind of defensive capability! Who’d have guessed.
Test forum patch notes are showing some substantial reworks/changes for characters, gear, powers… everything effectively.
Everyone will get respecced with the anniversary patch.
And everyone with an account with a character over level 30 will get a free stash tab, stack of retcons, and Punisher costume (that should be 22 of the 365 gifts accounted for).
So, anyone interested who doesn’t have time to sit and grind out a level 30 character in half a month should probably start now. I’d guess for one’s first character level 30 is roughly 10-15 hours of play time. I think that’s shorter than what my 1st 30 took, but it’s been a loooong time since I hit that milestone and the game has changed redically there.
Do we have enough players who are organized enough that we can think about taking on the raids? Anyone have any interest in doing them?
I saw somebody on the official forum suggest you can hit 30 in 1 hour if you’re new. I laughed.
