Yeah, most of my non-story time is spent in Midtown. Maybe I’ll run a few cosmics tonight with one of my level 60s.
Artifacts used to rain from the sky in buckets, but it has been this way for a while now.

Up late to find new email from Gaz. Mr. Fantastic on sale for 10% off. New freebie code HOTDOG.
That same email mentions that the loot rotation is back through Monday, calling itself Red White and Loot this time.
Has anyone found a Surfer build/set of gear they’re happy with (either of their own or on the forums)? Now that I’ve seen how key a good selection of artifacts is on a level 60, I’m well aware that I don’t have a good handle on that yet. And I’m definitely torn on what to do with his powers. I want to stick with EMF and I rather enjoy my current, AOE heavy set of power choices… but… It’s just not quite there for Cosmic terminals. Maybe I need to abandon the small AOE power that also recharges spirit (I forget the name - it’s not reconstruct/deconstruct). People seem to like Death From Below, which I’ve never used. Until now I’ve kept things ranged/energy, to maximise my bonus damage opportunities.
I ran a few cosmics last night, along with some time in X-Def and MM when they were boosted. Netted me an Advanced Super-Soldier Serum and an Advanced Kung Fu thingamajig, along with at least 5 other artifacts of varying degrees of usefulness.
Resolved: I need to continue to run cosmic terminals more often.
I only have one point in Supernova, Alex. I had it maxed initially, but realized I wasn’t really using it for damage and the spirit gain scales poorly. Death from Below is amazing.
My current max skills: deconstruction, Subspace rift, EMF, polarity field, DfB, power Unconquered, event horizon. Not completely settled on this build. If they change the wake ability so it works with his dash, I could see maxing it out. Part of me would like to get Board Sweep back. Event Horizon isn’t what I want it to be. I having gone from maxing to 1 point, back to maxing it, and may change the build again, because most of the damage usually goes to waste. I’m waiting to see what power fixes are in the pipeline, because they haven’t been communicating what they intend to change.
Hrm. I stepped away from computer for a bit and little one managed to delete Ms. Marvel’s costume (not available to purchase separately in store). The customer service response is “prestige her for another copy of the costume.” WTF. Reimbursement for stuff like this isn’t exactly pie-in-sky in the MMO space any more. Did they simply not bother with any sort of logging or other tools? I’ve had entire characters restored by such customer service giants (sarcasm, yes) as Sony…
Sorry to hear that, Cal, that sucks. I’m fortunate in that I’ve never had to try to get customer service to help with a situation like that, but you’d think there would be some kind of log that could tell them it was actually a delete and not some kind of scam.
Yeah, Event Horizon is a lovely tool amongst mobs but so hit & miss in boss fights. I do get a surprising amount of use out of it in boss fights though (picking my moments), but I’m still only getting about 50% of the damage I could get if the bosses never moved.
I might try a respect into those skills this weekend then and see what I can do about my artefact choices. Just 3 more levels before I have my 3rd 60 first though (Hulk).
Oh, just spotted this ranged Silver Surfer build on the forums as well, which is worth considering. Sounds like it’s working out well on cosmics & raids.
Similar to what I’m using, but I have Supernova as a one-pointer these days

After I got my Hulk to 60 I started work trying to get a White Suit Jacket for him. 12 cosmic Kingpin runs with Colossus so far, with no joy. Also, I’ve still never seen the slot 2 unique for Colossus drop (Kitty’s Favourite Shirt). I’ve had around 30 uniques for him! Curse you, RNG.
Can’t you exchange uniques with the crafter? 3 for 1 (for your current hero). If that’s still the case, this would give you some more chances to roll Kitty’s.
I have never, ever had more than four of the five slots in uniques for any character. Not even by using those anniversary “have five uniques your hero can use” items. I’ve had seven or eight different uniques for a character sometimes, if they have multiple uniques in some slots, but a full set stubbornly eludes me.
You want to do 4:1 for current hero (which can roll any any hero unique, btw). 3:1 is any unique period. You can use uniques from a different hero, which is great when you have a crappy one you never intend to wear anyway.
Yeah I’ve done at least three “4 for 1” exchanges on Colossus. Still no shirt.

If you’re trying to get the Terminal Farmables you just have to mentally prepare yourself for the decent possibility that the item you’re looking for is 200 runs, or more, down the line. There are people who have run Kurse 300+ times, on Cosmic, with 200%+ RIF, and never seen a Gem of the Kursed. It sucks.
I’ve seen people ask repeatedly for small “sliver” style drops that would drop from these farmable bosses (i.e. Scraps of Kingpin’s Jacket, Kurse Gem Shards, Rivets of Dr. Doom, etc) and if you collected 200 of them you could craft the droppable item. A sort of farmer’s insurance. I guess Gaz thinks it’s “fun” to farm. They’re wrong. One-enemy drops suck hard.
Edit: I also favor the Terminal Daily Shared Quest as being “kill 6 bosses of your choice” instead of the mandatory “2 scrub bosses + Dr. Doom/Man Ape/MODOK” which is boring as hell. And I think the Omega system is badly designed, boring shit. What I’m saying is that I’m a jerk.
In my experience, the only way to deal with “damn near impossible to get as a drop” items are to pretend they don’t exist, unless and until one drops for you. That’s one reason I like to create my own builds rather than trying to follow the “best” posted online. If I start looking for that one “super item”, the game isn’t fun until I find it, and that defeats the purpose. Not to say I won’t look around the Internet and see what everyone else is doing, just that I do my best to leave that stuff-I’ll-never-have out of the process for my own characters. If a game doesn’t let me do that and still play at high levels, well, there’s other games. Marvel Heroes does a pretty good job of it, in my opinion. You can make a workable build with cosmic items and common-drop artifacts, and uniques drop pretty regularly too (especially with all the events they run).
