Is this a modding thing, or a Bioware thing?

This is a modding thing and pretty awesome. 122.63 GB installer in total, for ME1, ME2 and ME3.
I install the base game, login once to verify DLC and install the ME1controller and ME2controller mods to be able to use controller. Then install the ALOT + ALOV videos textures mods. ME3 is slightly different since its controller mod has to have ME3 Mod Manager and I have to install the Expanded Galaxy mod before ALOT/ALOV as the last step.
It’s automated 99% of the mod installation:

Thankfully, the video pack is well-seeded at the moment so the download is fast at least:
I didn’t even know people had 4K monitors for their PCs already.

4K monitors have been out since at least 2015 when I got one from Acer with G-Sync support to go with a Geforce GTX 980 Ti. In hindsight, that GPU was still too slow to game at 4K.

BTW, modded ME1 is 29GB install size, ME2 is 32GB. Modded ME3 is 72GB.

Here’s the first hour and 15 minutes of my 4K HD @ 60fps texture modded w/ controller support Mass Effect with full antialiasing etc, well once YouTube finishes processing the HD version overnight:
Additional armors at 24 min mark and noticeable texture improvement at 1h9min
The HD retextures and neural network upscale of the compressed 720p cutscenes to 1080p/4K is an impressive labor of love by fans.
Woo! The hd version has been processed by YT.

Ugh. Forgot about the hated Star Child and its dream sequences.

Look at the lushness of that N7 hoodie texture!
It’s weird. I recorded in 1440p but YouTube doesn’t offer that option once uploaded. Only up to 1080p.

Thanks for checking. Must have taken extra time to process!
ME2/ME3 had so many lore-breaking retcons from ME1’s setup, but I am so in love with its many character moments and world-building that it earned from ME1+ME2. I have a friend that rushed through ME2 and had their entire party die in the suicide mission. They then claim they dislike Mass Effect overall but didn’t spend any time doing the story/dialogue bits during the downtime between action bits.
I looooove the slow bits and standing around for ambient dialog to fire off and their progression in Mass Effect and consider them gameplay as well while my friend doesn’t.
So far it’s a 1:1 ratio for idle time stuff vs combat but I’m replaying on Insanity where it’s harder than I remember.

I wonder if I can even get the best ending nowadays with the ME3 app/online connectivity for the galaxy map war readiness thing being offline?
I thought one of the last patches allowed you to get enough battle readiness without needing the online stuff. But it’s been a while, I might be wrong.

Yeah, should be no problem at all. I’m pretty sure that I played it without doing any on-line stuff at all.

All the sectors in galaxy map are at 50%. I wonder if that’s the max.

Some great character moments (spoiler):

Yea, I never did anything online.
I really enjoyed the online stuff. Unlocking stuff took a while, but it was a lot of fun putting together a character and playing online.

I just remembered extended cut reduced the 4000 (impossible to get without playing multiplayer) war assets requirement to 3100. I’m at Priority Horizon and done every single planet scan and side mission and am at 3826 or something. Citadel DLC and Priority Horizon + Cerebus HQ + Priority Earth are my only missions left.
I’m at the point where I realized my Miranda is doomed and not savable because I missed something earlier and wondering if I should start over or finish this Insanity playthrough.
