Reading the comments in the RPS post about the savegame editor, I’m reminded again how the ending for ME2 makes for such miserable discussion. Everyone has to post their CYOA inputs and results as if anyone cares. More than any other game, it reminds me of that old quip about looking at other people’s pictures (“if I’m not in them or people aren’t having sex in them, I’m not interested”).
It will be a triumph if ME3 somehow ends the series while respecting our choices but not such that everyone has to dump their personal results in a post afterwards.

I believe they kept those two (and ditched the Grunt vs Mordin one) to make the Suicide Mission more suicidal. Didn’t like them either way, but there you go.
Also, found how multiplayer CAN affect your Universal Alertitude™. Get a multiplayer character to lvl 20, click “Promote” and a certain small force type (out of lots and lots) will become a bit more Alert. And the mp character lvl will reset to 1.
Now for a few Arrival run-throughs.

Same here. I am considering an ME play through at some point as FemShep…but I recently saw that ME2 DLC Genesis, anyone used that? Presumably something like that could be released for as DLC ME3 as well? That let you make some ME2 decisions.
Strange, I didn’t see that anywhere either.
There’s a pretty good ME2 save editor.]
Honestly, the “big decisions” in ME2 were…limp. Another reason it annoyed me.
They weren’t a bad idea at all and they were extremely watered down from previous bioware games because you basically couldn’t “lose” them so that you had to make a hard choice. A hard choice would have been if Jack and Miranda stuck to their guns on some issue and you had to decide who to support, the other one leaving your crew, losing loyalty status for good or (the easy/worst way) making you do some quest to get them back.
I want my actions to have consequences. If my character brutally rapes and kills liara’s mother in front of her, i want liara to attack me, not tell me how much she loves me. This makes the world and characters feel more realistic and independent from the player, with their own values and desires. Apparently the majority of people disagree though. They hate choices and consequences and don’t want to have to think about the potential consequences of their actions.
People were just curious about what caused what. While i liked the ending in me2, it was extremely disappointing because it was the exact opposite of what they advertised it as. If you did the loyalty quests for your crew (why shouldn’t you, 90% of me2 is doing them so you would have to be a freaking idiot not to), bought the ship upgrades (again, why wouldn’t you since they arent that expensive later in the game and they look pretty damn important) and make logical choices, putting people who are obviously suited best to certain tasks to do them, you won’t lose anyone.
This is supposed to be a suicide mission, a battle against all odds. I want to lose people, i want to have to make choices where i can’t save everyone (ie me1), i want to hate the reapers for killing my friend, Johny.
So, Origin is telling me I have to wait another 12 hours. TWELVE HOURS.
I look around, the world seems grey. I can’t play any games…they all pale in comparison to my expectations.
Anyone who read my previous posts in this thread, knows I’m a big fan of my Femshep, to the point that I make the same character every replay, and I wont play the demo because it feels wrong to have another femshep. Obviously, switching to Dudeshep is out of the question for me. Jennifer Hale’s voiceacting may have helped with this, but the main thing is the connection you feel with the character and the story as a whole. In my case, that connection is so strong that playing differently isn’t an option, and I think thats very well done by Bioware, not just by Jennifer!
I would assume the same goes for Dudeshep: if you started out with him, the connection should be as strong as with a femshep. It’s the same story after all, and the same dialogues. Only if the connection you build up with him isn’t as strong, then perhaps the voiceacting is crucial.
I guess the million dollar question would be: did anyone start a femshep and switch to dudeshep later? If so: no difference between Mark and Jennifer (and I assume that is the case). If not: Jennifer is better…
It’s impossible to judge the xenocide choices (the only good / challenging ones) until we play ME3 and see the consequences.
I mean the suicide mission.
Frankly, the Renegade Reinterpretations version of it was more what I expected. (I especially liked the assassin bit…why DID you recruit them rather than soldiers under the conditions you actually faced, ffs?)

For those that played the ME3 already, including Tom…my question is (and without going spoilerly)…are there any invisible timers running like after the Normandy gets attacked in ME2?
I don’t mind timers as long as i know that they are there…Mass effect mixes supposed urgent stuff with timed and non timed events with annoyingly inconsistent logic and reason. So I would like to know in advance if I have to pay attention to urgent pleas, and make them urgent, or take my time as I would otherwise do.
Oh. I dismissed that because there were no big decisions there. Except possibly the binary choice after it’s over. But again we’ll have to see the consequences first. The choices I mentioned were relatively interesting but not quite as good as some low-consequence “player” choices in other games.

I also got to say I’m loving seeing Mass effect, Jagged Alliance and Xcom all active threads right now!!! It’s been a dry spell for the types of games I love, and it’s almost surreal to see this sudden resurgence of classic tactical/RPG games.
So what are chances for me to get any enjoyment out of ME3 if I’ve never played 1 or 2.
I guess that depends on how much it would annoy you to watch the third part of a trilogy without watching the other two movies.

There are live updates of what’s happening on “earth” today:

Yes
And I know it’s not really consistent with the rest of the game works ><
Is there any way to tell us what the invisible timer is without spoiling anything important? I hated that crap in ME2 also.
