It’s like every third page of this thread has to have something that absolutely infuriates me as a consumer, and then the two pages in between are full of stuff that just makes me want to immediately open my wallet. Ugh, EA.

Probably a shot in the dark but: Anyone have any luck importing an ME2 PC game into ME3 on the 360 without having a copy of ME2 for 360?

Normally I would stick to the PC but the possibility of being a space asshole with friends is pulling me towards 360.

Where did you find that? As in, is it confirmed?

Pentaduct’s review: http://www.pcgamer.com/review/mass-effect-3-review/

Stayed up til almost 4am playing this game. Unfortunately, the first 15 minutes were waiting for EA servers to calm down. Then I spent the next hour getting my character to look right because it didn’t import the appearance. But now that I’m in the game - SO GOOD.

A bit more from Pentadact on the multiplayer factoring into single player ending stuff. A specifically non-spoilery piece.

FYI, important change to Paragon/Renegade aspect of the game as it plays very differently:

The key differences are:

There’s no penalty for mixing Paragon and Renegade: In Mass Effect 2, if you wanted to get the hardest Charm options, you had to play an almost completely Paragon character. We intended many of those Charms to be fun Easter eggs, but many players felt like they had to play pure Paragon to avoid being penalized by the loss of a dialog option. In Mass Effect 3, your Reputation score determines both Charm and Intimidate options, and that score is determined by adding your Paragon and Renegade scores together. You’re still rewarded for being a completionist player and doing as much content as you can, but you can do it as a Paragon or Renegade player without penalty.

We now have non-flavored Reputation: In Mass Effect 2, after a mission that didn’t have any major choices, we would give both Paragon and Renegade points, to show that even without a major decision, Shepard was more famous and had more influence as a result. This confused some players and made others angry – people who wanted to play pure Paragon didn’t like getting rewarded with both Paragon and Renegade points. In Mass Effect 3, whenever there’s a mission with no major decision, you will get Reputation points that add to your overall score but don’t carry a Paragon or Renegade flavor. The bar on your screen will grow, but the Paragon/Renegade ratio will remain unchanged.

Fetch quests! Oh boy! :P

Thanks, but seriously, fuck EA and the multiplayer tacked on goddamn garbage.

Pardon my french, but this is annoying.

The ONLY reason this is the way this is, is because Microsoft wants us to pay on the Xbox for Multiplayer…

yes12345.

Mass Effect has accomplished with the setting and narrative that I wish Halo could but never did.

How’s this comment from the two reviews today: after the heartfelt credits roll, the game suggests you can continue your adventure with DLC!

WOOOOOO

We need a list of who adores the ME series and who’s a skeptic. I’m really curious how many people come around to ME3. Jim’s review was kind of a surprise because he still hates the combat. So it’s not universal praise.

Yeah I think we discussed this briefly. I was a decent Paragon in ME2, but not maxed. In ME3 I’m about 4/5ths of the way to the first tick mark I think. So my guess is Reputation pretty much starts at “level 1.”

No, I’m pretty sure it has more to do with EA wanting delicious MP boost money. Remember, this game exists on PC as well without the Xbox Marketplace.

Edit: I’ll probably play a few games of MP, but I’m not going to go full bore nuts with it. I thought the demo experience was okay, but if I want to play a Horde-type game, I’ll go play Horde in Gears 3. I’m a bit miffed that I’ll have to play some MP before I even finish the SP game. I wanted to complete SP first.

I’ve never played a Mass Effect and have ME2 in the game shelf, with plans to play it as soon as I finish (ha!) Skyrim. Would I be better off just skipping ME2 and going straight to ME3?

I love the tag “Things that are frankly bullshit” for that piece. Very apt.

I was going to check out the iPad app but it’s $7. Uh, no. The’re already getting $60 from me, so maybe I’ll check out the facebook game at some point. Is that live yet?

I think you are better off playing both of the prior games due to the interconnectedness of the stories.

That is stunningly bad design.

Here’s what I recommend: don’t. Don’t do any quests that are boring, don’t play multiplayer if you don’t want to, and don’t go through old save games trying to optimise your decisions for the most War Assets. Don’t let BioWare’s seedy design decision manipulate you into playing in a way you don’t want to.

If they’ve made a game that’s brutal, harsh and dark if you don’t play multiplayer, they’ve made a game that’s brutal, harsh and dark. That’s how I reviewed it, and it’s still phenomenal.

I think that’s the take-away for me. I’m not interested in multiplayer so I don’t think I’ll futz with trying to get the “best” ending. Besides, I like brutal, harsh, and dark.

I wondered the same thing. I suppose I can always do multiplayer later and replay the ending. That way I can see the difference.

Since Readiness seems to be global, you’d have to replay the game and skip a bunch of quests if you wanted to see the bad ending. At least that’s my assumption.

I’m curious as to what are the differences between this game and the last, aside from the multiplayer and the morality system changes. How is the inventory?
