You do make some decisions (and I am not talking about the ending) that directly effect the lives of your friends.

Unfortunately, I loathed every one of my companions in Andromeda.

Reaper. When the walls fell.
Yea, sadly I don’t remember any of them. Oh wait there is one with the Geth I remember. That’s it.

Drack is alright in my book.
Are you guys basing this on how the ending was before the remake? Cause I never played that. IMO, the endings available in ME3 are all pretty sick, and fits beautifully to the story.
I was gonna say HEYY but then I can’t really name many of them, while I can name pretty much all of them from the ME 1-2-3.
But no, I do remember enjoying a few of them, especially the grumpy krogan. I always took a liking to the grumpy krogans in the game, for some reason.
But nothing, nothing in I think any game series, will ever have such an impact on me as Thane Krios did in the ME-series. MY GOD.
That highly realistic sickness he got from … what was it, the water or the air? Felt like a really thought through detail. I don’t think I’ve ever bawled my eyes so much to a video game as I did in ME3.

The ending was never going to be a satisfying resolution to the story the first game setup, as soon as Shepard was turned into space Jesus in ME2.
Plus the baby reaper did much to ruin the eldritch horror of the reapers.
Basically the first game had, by far, the best main story and world building. The later games only undermined that.
The what now?
I played all these 3 games in one go, for the first time in my life, in 2015. I didn’t feel that way at all. For me, it was a great story, with the first game a little to stiff and slow for my liking (oh god that horrid car driving on the planets), while the second and third game was what had me blown off my feat.
So, opinions opinions!
Every time I click this thread I think, oh boy! People want to talk more about Andromeda? But of course, no. Maybe we should make a new thread for the coming Mass Effect game?
I KNOW and yes. Let’s. Where all discussions about the old games is banned. Lol.
I just want to be excited about the coming Mass Effect without being sucked into a maelstrom of ME-haters
I guess the only thing that holds me back is this next game could be years away. But we’ve probably had cases like that in the past I guess?
I still have Andromeda on my to-play list. And I only picked it up because of the handful (2?) of QT3 posters that sang its praises.
Well, maybe not sang. Hummed? Whistled? Finger-snapped?
Based on that (diminutive sample size of) positive feedback alone, I am looking forward to playing it (someday, maybe this long holiday break I will have from work soon).
We are not the same species of gamer
I would have to imagine one of those was me, because I have certainly sang that tune more than once. It’s a strange situation to be in, at least as far as recommending the game goes. It’s impossible to overlook that most people either dislike the game or find it completely uninteresting. I loved it - felt like a return to form of the first game, with a wider galaxy with lots of worlds to explore, weird alien technologies and creatures, all the good stuff I associate with Mass Effect. It’s definitely got flaws, you don’t have to look far to find a catalog of those. And they might be numerous and distasteful enough to turn you off the game entirely. Never know until you try though!
Oooh. EA Play comes to Game Pass PC tomorrow…and Andromeda is on the list!
Seconded. I’m not sure I was as into it as you were but I think it’s got lots to love and it frustrates me how the conversation around it is one of automatic dismissal.
Did you play it on PC? I played it on console. The already slow frame rate, which also dropped quite a bit during those Mako levels, made me hate those portions of the game. I imagine a faster, smoother frame rate would make those driving portions more enjoyable.
Yes, PC. I loved the Mako (though many/most did not). The sad part is that there was nothing interesting to find anywhere. I could happily spend hours and hours driving around planets if there were hidden goodies worth finding. I’d play an entire game based on that.
