Are you sure? I thought one of the endings destroyed all the Mass Relays, effectively ending the galaxy as we know it. Sol was going to be OK, but it was the Turians that were dependent upon interstellar trade for their food supply and were therefore doomed.

All of them blow up the relays.

I’m too lazy to Google it for you, but I’m pretty sure Mass Effect design literally started as “Star Control II but modern”.

Well how about this one then?

“And yet now-departed creator Casey Hudson always seemed more keen to talk about the non-Bioware sci-fi games he loved. Deus Ex’s freedom of choice and branching storylines, Halo’s satisfying gunplay, and MS-DOS classic Starflight’s open-ended galaxy exploration all fed into his vision.”

I know this is a pretty old game, but I hadn’t played many games lately due to time, so I picked it up on the holiday sale.

I was enjoying it a lot, until I got to the planet where I had to drive a radiation proof ATV.

I can’t drive the damn thing, it’s ridiculous.

I’m not sure what genius decided to make the driving mechanism different than the walking and running controls, but they just don’t work the same. I’m spending all my time trying to back down from hills, I inadvertently drove up.

Everything’s an overcorrection, which doesn’t exist when I’m walking my character.

Playing on a computer with mouse and keyboard.

Are there any tips that I missing, because I’m ready to give up the game!

I had no problem with gamepad on PC. Does it rely on fine analog controls that aren’t possible with keyboard?

Same for me. I also played on Gamepad and the controls were good. I can’t comment on how m+k works in Andromeda. But it feels like that portion of the game at least, like most driving, would benefit from a controller

Worst bit for me was that I had forgotten in the intervening 3.5 years between playing that you could switch the wheel mode from flat to all terrain, so I wasted ages walking up big hills before I finally found the option to change it. Oops.

Not really. I didn’t play Andromeda with a gamepad (because it’s a shooter and I’m not a monster) but while vehicle controls are a bit finicky I found it more viable than, say, the Mako.

In “The Arrival” DLC, it was explained that destroying a mass relay would wipe out everything in a system.

is that the Mass Effect 2 DLC or the Mass Effect 1 DLC? I thought that both had DLC’s that talked about it.

I will never understand you people. The Mako was awesome

What platform did you play on? That seems to have made a big difference.

Uh…gosh…PS3, maybe? Might have been PC.

Let me help your memory. Were you using a thumbstick to drive around the Mako, or the WASD keys?

Gee, why didn’t I think of that 😒. My son (who spent hours driving the Mako around) says it was PS3

It’s not true of most other games. Mass Effect is one of the few games that didn’t have gamepad support on PC. It’s a relatively rare thing.

So yeah, you played the more fun version on console.

I mean I think ME was way better on PC. But the Mako seems to have been the exception to that.

Also I didn’t think ME1 was released on PS3?
