ME looked better on PC. I mean obviously, when you throw in mods. But I don’t think it played better on PC, personally.
3/4. Whichever it was. @Rock8man Was there really Pc gamepad support that long ago? I didn’t start using one on pc until fairly recently (last 4-5 years maybe)
I don’t think ME1 supported controller on PC. Just M&K, I believe. Or was that Fable? Definitely Fable on PC, but maybe ME1 as well. It’s been a while.
It definitely was not a thing before the 360 came out. Once the 360 controller came out and became ubiquitous, PC games started supporting the controller almost universally, and PC Gaming became wonderful again. I can’t pinpoint the year that happened though. The 360 controller came out in 2005. So probably the games started coming in 2007 onward?
Okay. I was thinking about Bringing Down the Sky, which that DLC references.
For some reason, I thought they talked about the destruction of a Relay in that one.

I use the keyboard for shooters. It is just easier for me. A controller for stabby stabby games.
My bad, I meant to refer to this one originally, got the title confused.
I’ve never owned a controller, I’ve never played a console.
I’ve always played my games on a computer with mouse and keyboard except, using a joystick for a space sim years ago.
I don’t even use WASD, my fat fingers can’t handle it, I always hit the surrounding keys. I always reconfigure to the arrow keys.
It’s always worked fine.
I may have to try to figure out if I’m using all-terrain or flat mode, and switch to it if I’m not.
If that doesn’t work, I’ll find something else to play. That would be a pity but necessary.
I still don’t understand the design decision to make it different than walking, I didn’t buy a driving game, I bought a RPG.

These are all stubborn objections contrary to the goal of having fun and you may choose to die on that hill to your detriment.
A keyboard lacks fine analog control: it is either depressed or not.
I’m with @Lloyd_Heilbrunn on this, though. I wouldn’t sit at my computer with a controller; that’s why I have a console. If I’m at my computer, I’m all about the keyboard and mouse control. It’s a sticking point with games ported to PC or built for both console and PC, for me, that they often emphasize controller use over kb+m. I usually research a bit on how the system works before diving into the game because the frustration over poor kb+m control has had me drop games before I knew to watch for it.
Andromeda is still installed, but I hit a snag after a couple hours (in game or life, I don’t remember) and never got back into it. I really should give it another try, and anticipate that kb+m control problem.
I used to be the same and refused to even buy a controller, but I ended up getting one to play FIFA and then never looked back. However, I have never owned a console so don’t have that association in my head.
Okay, it’s still frustrating, but I’m actually able to drive it around by turning on all-terrain and going REALLY slow. I also adjusted a couple of things in the controls and I’m not sure whether they helped or not, but it’s a bit better.
Still a poor design decision, IMO.
How well does the game handle switching controls? When it’s possible, I’ll shoot and walk with WASD but drive/fly with a controller.
Okay, I got good enough with the ATV to drive around but I have a strange issue.
I’m in the area with all the gravity wells but all the sudden I can’t get my guns to shoot even though I walk over ammo boxes.
I look at my inventory and I seem to have ammo but when I get in battle I can only use the biotics.
And they take forever to load.
I’m wondering if I accidentally unequipped some weapons, but I see a gun when I go into combat.
How do I check my weapons\biotics shortcuts? Or is this just a bug?
Thanks
I’ve started playing this in the last few days since it was added to Gamepass for PC and I have to say in really enjoying it so far. On the one hand, you could say that they engineered the setup to play out similarly to the original ME, but that’s what I like about it. Certainly, I’m enjoying this a heck of a lot more than ME2.
I’ve rebooted two vaults and done the initial mission on another planet. The stakes are higher early than in the original game, though it still feels like it is taking a while to get going, perhaps because much of this feels familiar. I think if this had been a totally new experience, impressions would be even more positive.
In true ME form, I fight with the interface far too much, particularly with mission selection and crafting. Certainly not stopping me from having fun with it.
I suppose it’s only natural that with the release of the Legendary Edition of the original trilogy that some people are reconsidering Andromeda. This video was just released today, and makes a pretty decent case for trying out the game, if you haven’t already.
Andromeda is awesome. It had some quality control issues on release and nobody has ever gotten to the bottom of the tired face thing, but it’s a full, epic ME game. Their biggest sin was abandoning it before making the DLC for the missing ark ship. I’m playing the legendary edition of ME1 now, and frustrated I can’t jetpack over obstacles.
Internet high five, dude.
