Finished on Insanity with 133 hours

I have a specific question on the “Remove the Heart” quest on Voeld. You have to go to a Kett base and do something there. But in a room where I can see a shield in the background, there’s always 3 Kett enemies there. I can sit there for hours and fight enemy after enemy after enemy, but they keep respawning so that there’s always 3 enemies. So if I shoot one, another one spawns, then another, then another, then another.

Eventually I ran out of ammo on all my guns after killing a lot of enemies, and I retreated, got more ammo and came back. I’m not sure if that reset the enemy count that I’m supposed to take down in this room? Anyway, I got impatient and charged the room to see if there’s something I could do to disable the shield while the three enemies shoot at me.

Of course, this being hardcore, I immediately died upon entering the room.

I then went back and kept shooting enemy after enemy after enemy. Is it just a LOT of enemies I’m supposed to keep taking down in this room, or is there something that I’m missing? Something I should be doing instead of this? The quest marker is telling me to go here.

Yea, they shouldn’t respawn indefinitely. I got to this quest by rescuing a guy from the slaver camp in the top portion of the map, and then talking to his sister in the Angara camp inside the caves near the middle of the map. She gets a code to crack the shield you mention at the Kett base. Did you follow all those steps? I assume so, as you have the quest, but maybe different events can trigger the quest.

If all that seems right, then I believe you should be able to get to the shield fine. She breaks the code and gets you inside. You might have to load a save or restart the game to reload the encounter?

Darn. All those steps sound right.

So it’s some kind of infinite respawn bug then?

Yea, maybe if you leave the planet and come back it will reset itself?

Man, Vetra and Liam do not get along. Only take them together if you’re in the mood for a crapload of bickering.

some levels/missions do have infinite enemies like the big kett base on eos.

I think if you die during the Kett base assault the enemies will continue to spawn until you defeat the boss. Short of restarting the game and loading a save before the assault and finishing in one try I don’t know of any other solution.

This is the part where we have to bring down the shield using some frequency thing. It’s a little cave on the side of the base, and only 3 Kett spawn at a time, no boss. Nor did anything different happen the first time I did the mission, which I described above. I only went in and killed myself that first time basically because I got tired of seemingly infinite enemies.

I loaded up the same game today by hitting resume. And I went to the usual spot. I shot a few Kett. This time seemed different. I was used to the chaingunners and invisible cloaked and shielded Kett, but this time only the plain weak guys were spawning, so I kept killing them easily. And then one chaingunner spawned and charged my position. I almost died, but survived with a sliver of health. And it turns out he was the last guy. So all in all, after killing only 7 or 8 Kett in that little cave, (3 at a time), the battle was over, and I went in and brought down the shield.

Yay! Horray for self-fixing bugs. The best kind of bugs!

I had a mission with infinite spawning enemies too. I had to go rescue a guy in some out of the way corner of Elaaden. There were a bunch of outlaws and I opened fire from a distance with my sniper and started to head in, with very few options for cover. It should have been an easy fight, but I ended up having to retreat because I was getting overwhelmed.

While taking cover back behind a sand dune again, I eventually noticed something I’d seen in some other small camps… a group of enemies hovering in the air, not moving. I headshot one of them and he fell out of the sky dead… yet there was another copy of him right underneath in the same place. I repeated this at least five times before his one spawn point was clear. I also realized that one of my party members kept repeating the same line of dialog every time I’d approach, and I realized it was probably the same trigger that caused a wave of enemies to appear.

I probably could have reloaded a save and it would have fixed it, but instead I took out the entire camp with two Cobra missiles and finished the mission successfully. ;)

Gonna ask this here since no one seems to be doing much w/ the spoiler thread. Also don’t believe this would constitute a spoiler, since there’s no real storyline involved.

So on Voeld, you can pick up a task for updating the shield on the Nomad - It’s ‘Task:Nomad Shield Crafting’, where the instructions say to build an ‘Improved Shield Regenerator’ for the Nomad. The problem is building one doesn’t seem to complete the task, and it just hangs there w/o being able to complete it.

It seems to be a fairly common issue. I saw someone who said to build it at a research/development station on Voeld to get around the bug, but I can’t find one. Anyone know where one exists? I’m hoping the answer is at the outpost, as I haven’t built that yet, but I think I’ve searched everywhere else.

I had that same bug in the same area probably, a distillery looking thing where you wrap up the salarian spy quest. I just hung there and kept killing everyone as they came out, I figured I could outlast them. I had a girlfriend tell me once me I was a typical Aries, I solve every problem by butting my head against it until it either gives way or I crack my skull open.

I think there is one right there or nearby in that settlement where you get the quest.

Oh hey, as long as we’re talking about busted quests, I got one. On Kadara there’s a questline you can follow that ended up with some fellow setting gangs against each other, to hopefully get them to wipe each other out. Once you eventually catch up, you’re supposed to find this guy’s body among the others, but you’re (I guess) supposed to find a datapad somewhere to tell you what to do next. Except I can’t find that datapad, it isn’t anywhere in the area. Did anyone else have this problem?

Yep, that was the exact place/quest.

the shield crafting thing bugged for me as well as the ‘badges/trials/feats’ quest for an angaran in the cultural center on nexus. i couldn’t redeem it when finished.

You can use the scanner to find datapads and other quest items. It wasn’t obvious to me, but during one mission on Eos I ended up in a Kett lab when the controller started vibrating; activating it actually enabled me to pick up datapads and some other stuff (I don’t think they could be interacted with before I activated the scanner, or I simply didn’t notice). Perhaps that’s the issue here, too?

I’ve pretty much been over the whole area with my scanner multiple times. It’s possible I’m missing something obvious, but I am leaning toward bugged quest at this point. As a side note, I don’t think I’ve done this much scanning since Metroid Prime.

I could not (and still can’t) find a R&D station on Voeld, although I haven’t built the outpost yet.

I did go back to an earlier save, and found that Improved Shield Regeneration was already available before I got to Voeld, and I do think I built it. So I have to do Voeld all over again. But I’ve been looking for an R&D station, and still can’t find one in either the resistance base, or the two Angaran towns nearby. There might be one in the outpost when I build that. Need to find 5 platinum first, tho.

Anyway - sidetracked - I do wonder if the fact that ISR was already available before the quest is a holdover from my first game, and it’s somehow screwing up the tasks. Sort of similarly, there’s a task to build an outlaw rifle, which I did the first time because the Sandstorm rifle is awesome, and I was able to research and build them right from the start of the game. In fact, it already gave me a completed task for that, and I haven’t even heard of Kadara yet, much less been given the quest. But there it is in my completed list. I just wonder if they’re having issues with some game states bleeding through to other games (and yes, this was a completely new game, not a new game +).

Anyway, if it doesn’t work, I’m done until it’s patched. This is my 100% runthrough, and I was able to finish everything on Eos and Havarl, and not being able to finish this for 100% is pissing me off.
