Well technically they are all at least 600 years old, so to heck with it, anything goes!

That’s an attitude people generally have in their 20s, not 620s.
They may be in their 620s, but, emotionally, they’re no older than 170.

I’m on my second playthrough (Win10 Creator’s Update causes MEA to freeze with sound on transition videos intermittently on nVidia) at 150+ hours on Regular this time instead of Insanity. Regular is pretty easy, boss fights included and I can get away with unaugumented gear and weapons up to 2 levels below par-for-level. At level 35 when Kadara is reached.
I got in a few more Kett Base runs on Voeld yesterday. I didn’t get as far as I usually do, unfortunately.
I discovered something interesting in the menus yesterday though. In the main menu you can press Y and it takes you to a different screen showing your Andromedia Progress overall.
And, more importantly, I discovered that the Cryo Beam ability I sometimes use has an alternate way to use it. One of those “hold to…” variants that apparently does something different than just tapping the ability. So I’ll have to try that out on tonight’s Kett Base run. It probably won’t help me, but it should be fun to experiment.

What has been the hardest encounters for everyone?
The Eos Kett base with its endless spawning and weird placement of 3 see security consoles that need to be deactivated as well as the Voeld rescue and extraction bases were the two shittiest battles for me.
For me it was the first encounter with the orb/shield guy at the end of the rescue mission on Voeld. Definitely died there more than anywhere else. Kind of silly because he’s not really that bad, I just struggled finding a workable strategy dealing with him and his endlessly respawning lackeys. Also, think I was kind of underpowered at the time.

Combos don’t prime or detonate if they hit shields or armour?
Interesting. I think you’re right. That explains a lot. That’s why I hardly ever get combos except on really weak guys.
Oh man, using the Revenant with the AR skill that adds 2% damage per shot landed just makes it a firehose of death. I feel like Tony Montana, say hello to my little friend!

Using trracking plasma to help with accuracy. You can hit people around corners and behind barriers.
Holy crap I gotta try that. I love using concussive shot to hit people around corners.

i think it was someone here to mentioned it but Isharay + Bioconverter + lifesupport = BOOM
edit: also needs the mod from havarl that resets CD on kills
Kett Base on Voeld is history. I got really scared when I realized that what I thought was the end of the base run was just the beginning. I went to three other locations after that, and then when I finally thought I was done, there was a boss fight. Luckily, this boss was nothing like the boss I ran away from in Halraal, or whatever the jungle planet was called. This boss fight was easy. Phew!
I feel like I beat the game, honestly. 37 hours in, so far.
After the Kett Base, I reached 39% viability on Voeld. 1% short of being able to build a colony. Damn it. I guess I’m not done with this place yet.
Honestly, leaving the Kett base and getting into the Nomad (remember the Nomad?) was a euphoric experience. Slamming on those afterburners and sliding down the mountain skidding sideways, I might have let out a “whoooooo”.

Incinerate works on health and armor, Energy Drain for example works on shields and health. I had no issues detonating them with Lance, but I did see a few posts in various places mentioning Charge as the problem. Have you tried using any other skills to detonate?

I think the issue is the primer. If he tried to prime a shielded enemy with Incinerate, it wouldn’t work, because as you noted, Incinerate only works on health and armor. So even though Energy Drain works on shielded enemies, it won’t serve as a detonator because the primer (Incinerate) didn’t take while shields were up. If you could bring the shields down first, then you’d be able to prime with Incinerate.
I hope you enjoyed that kett base because they basically reuse it on multiple planets da2 style.
