I finally got it working, though there was a large black square in the corner of my vision for some reason. And the sound during flight wouldn’t go to my headset headphones, though it did in the menus. Flew from Gillespee to my house. It looks pretty good, I have to say. (It took me several minutes to figure out how to unlock my brakes. I’ve never flown with a controller before.)
And @Skipper, I usually consider myself to have pretty strong VR legs, but I was getting a little green with the turns.

Is it supposed to be this hard to get into a Windows Mixed Reality game that’s running? It seems convoluted.
Props to @Alistair posting this in the VR thread. This helps a lot!

For those using WMR headsets (G2’s!). This allows you to turn on motion smoothing, which is very necessary to not puke your guts out.
Sweaty palms is a que to stop flying right fucking now. Ignore at your own peril. Don’t ask me how I know. A hint: migraines.
I have gotten the thing to run acceptably smooth and not looking like regurgitated dog food. Making a little pleasure flight. Man those clouds <3
…And then some weird issues with the thing losing focus (ie. going out of control) cost me my flight and put another crash on my logbook. Thanks Obama.
Got it working after a bit of faff to start with. Performance seems OK in the Italian countryside, haven’t had a chance to try city flying yet. Really wish my G2 worked, though, as I can’t really read the Garmin when fiddling with flight plans and I lose tracking if I lean in. Also getting a bit of a fish-eye effect, at least in the TBM.

I thought, “hey let’s have fun and take something fast out.” Loaded up the EXTRA 330LT and took off. I got some mild nausea banking hard out of the airport, then a loop above the cityscape below. But then I tried a few rolls and a hard bank back to the airport and the sweaty palms kicked in. I’ll try things with the motion smoothing but for now it sounds like I need to slow down a bit and ease into it.
I actually drove by that mountain earlier this afternoon. I thought of taking a picture and posting it, but too late. And on the way back I forgot (my wife and I drove out that way to get a new puppy).
Oh, AND SPEAKING OF SWEATY PALMS, I signed up for more RL flight lessons!
I am expecting my G2 to arrive later today. Is there a way to have two settings profiles? I’ve been running it pretty much at ultra on a monitor, but I will obvs have to dial it down in VR. Is there a convenient way of switching back and forth between the two?

Think there’s a separate options screen for VR.
Almost the absolute cat’s bollocks in the Quest 2, except for this hollow, black square thing.
My rig struggles a bit, but not like rest of ya’ll G2 lunatics. Sometimes lower rez is better.

You’re in luck, they are completely separated in-game. You can set VR settings differently than standard GPU/Monitor settings. Even some additional keybindings only for VR. EDIT: (Let me correct that a bit. In the video that Alistair shared, you can see there are settings for that. I do not have those yet, only minimal VR settings. So I’m not sure if I need to launch VR to see them or if that is not yet patched in.)
Good luck on the RL flight lessons, Ike! Remember, you’ve got this. No different than a car, and millions of pilots out there to prove that. Enjoy it and look out the window and see the sights while you’re in the air. Feel the plane, kind of like how you feel a car out to understand how it accelerates and handles corners, etc.
Get someone to take pics of you airborne if possible. I wish I still had some of those moments in a picture.

Looks like there’s a fix for this here. I was able to find the debug tool and turn the FOV stencil off, but haven’t tested it to see if it worked:
Yep, El Reddito gave me the 411 on grabbing the beta V24 drivers. Fixed the issue.
Anyone else though just getting absolutely filthy loading times? Seems much longer than before a flight.

This game has that in spades, so to be honest, I’m not sure if they were worse in VR or if it was because I was staring at WMR for the entire time instead of getting up and pouring more coffee. Point to non-VR for that, for sure.

It was a bit jerky at first scenery-wise, but I changed my settings to match the YouTube video, and downloaded the OpenXR tool and turned on the motion smoothing, and now it’s silky smooth. Running mostly the settings from the video, but at 70% instead of 60%, and everything looks really good.
Going to inch things up now until things get jerky again. :)
@Pedro, yeah, my rudder sensitivity was much higher after the upgrade. Looks like I need to adjust the curve again.
After mod-fix-a-palooza today I decided to spend some time playing in The Skypark. I got nice and frosty hauling presents around up in Montana.
(Has anyone ever mentioned that this game can be freaking gorgeous?)
Always an issue…
Flying from KLAX to KMIA in a 787. Everything is fine until somewhere over Texas, when the AP just puts the plane in a 70% or so turn to the right until I start falling from the sky. No issues with the right speed, getting to altitude, following the straight lines of the flight plan - until then.
{sigh}

I really hoped to hear better from this patch. Do you think it was a one off random issue with the AP or what?
Probably not… in my flight last night my AP tried to kill me in a similar way, but I figured it was because I was pretty heavily iced and barely staying in the air as it was. But I was talking about it with someone else on the WT discord server and they had a similar experience without icing. This is the third, seems to be a pattern. :(
The weird thing is this seems to be something they expressly fixed, at least on another plane.
