@Dejin, the instruments are super-sharp with the 3080/G2 combination. Like, sitting all the way back, you can even read small print on GPS displays embedded on steam gauge panels.

Thatās great to hear @Editer!!!
The early reviews of the VR stuff suggest that itās VERY rough right now:

I checked out NeoFly. I like that it starts out with good VFR general aviation flights. But to me, being able to buy a fleet of gradually more and more capable aircraft and set up a company is not a great incentive to fly. Other programs already do that. Iām not really sure what Iām actually looking for with one of these meta-game add-ons. I think Iād like something more deliberate and narrative basedāsomething like the bush trips, but with a point. Give me a natural progression among aircraft types. Make missions more difficult, remote hard-to-find airstrips with sketchy maps, exhilarating take-offs and landings, mid-air emergencies, flying through rough terrain, globe trotting to hand-selected locations, etc.
Youāll probably have to wait for Deadstick then. All the economy mods/add-ons seem to be based around auto-gen missions, for obvious reasons.

Yes it is. Truly pioneer territory for now, especially if you own a more or less immature headset. Weāre all figuring this shit out as we speak, and even so, itās not likely to reach apple-like levels of plug&play. Get your PC masterrace on guys 'n gals!

If youāre running the G2, make this change to the Custom Render Scale on the OpenXR Dev Tools app. Doesnāt make any noticeable visual difference as far as I can see, but definitely smooths out some of the jerkiness I was seeing. (Saw this on YouTube and got definite improvements.)

FYI new DA62 available for the FSE group in Montego Bay, if anyone fancies some Caribbean Christmas flying.

Free Grumman Goose up at Sim Outhouse right now.
Itās the FSX Goose re-done in the MSFS SDK. Full MSFS native flight model, native instruments, etc. Itās not a port-over. (Itās a āport,ā but they re-did it in the SDK, so itās equivalent to a from-scratch MSFS model.)
I did something to screw up my graphics settings and I canāt figure out what. I was monkeying mostly with VR settings, but somehow it carried over into pancake mode as well. The mountains here in Phoenix used to look very realistic, red and rocky, now they look like green lumps. Any idea what I might have messed up? Iāll post some screens, but I donāt have old ones for comparison. It was working as recently as yesterday.
Edit: I may have figured it out. It was for some reason not streaming photogrammetry. now to see if it carries over into VR.
We may need a separate thread just for MSFS VR settings. Niether this thread nor the VR thread seems appropriate for something so specific.
Question on this. Do you need to start OpenXR DEV Tools every time you run the program? Or do the settings āstickā?

My question as well. I did not have it running last night and was getting stutter but Iām just now playing with settings beyond the ādefaultā for VR. I can definitely drive better than Iām getting, but it needs tweaking. Some flights were better than others too, it depends a LOT on the Bing earth data.
I flew through Manhattan and over to the Statue of Liberty and was awestruck that it felt like really flying. It was enhanced a bit with me being in the Pipistrel Virus, which has plexiglass doors and something of a sunroof, allowing very wide views.
To contrast that I flew out of my home airport of Charlotte and up and near my home. It was very poor terrain view, worse than medium (the standard setting) in my opinion. I think itās the terrain LOD though that is the key. When very, very close, things clear up or at least look somewhat better.
Also, at one point this had a setting for motion smoothing - I donāt see it any more.

I flew some more with the OpenXR running, it seemed to help but then again I just changed all the settings to match some of what @Editer posted above. It runs smoothly. However, coming from ultra settings into VR, man itās disheartening. I did play with things further than Denny did. But on the edges of looking really good the frame loss comes back in.
Hereās hoping they optimize things a bit more, just like they did with the base game over time.
I also struggle reading the displays and had hoped that would not be the case. The VR key to zoom in on the displays helps, be sure and bind that to something.
Apparently from what Im reading (and Iām spending far more time monkeying with settings than actually flying) if you want to maximize legibility of the in flight displays, you want to set the in-game rendering setting to 100 or higher and reduce the WMR dev tool setting until you get the performance you want. To maximize the view out the window, do the other way around.

Excellent tip, man. Thank you!

Thanks for that, @IkeVandergraaf. Got rid of the last of my ājerkies.ā I would not have expected turning Motion Reprojection off in the OpenXR app to have a positive effect, but it made a huge difference. Iām able to run at about 45 fps in VR in the most demanding scenery (NYC Seattle with the Drczweicki scenery update) and itās smooth as silk with motion reprojection off. With it on, everything was really jerky in demanding areas.

So that pre-Christmas update has destroyed my ability to land the plane in any kind of respectable manner. It seems that beforehand, the rudder snapped back to centre, whereas now it doesnāt. On a gamepad, this results in a lot of overadjusting and slewing around, meaning as often as not Iām drifting down the runway like a race car.
- On a real plane, does the rudder snap back to centre when you take your foot off the pedals?
- If anyone has a way of adjusting for this (on gamepad), could they post their sensitivity settings for LT and RT?
Iāve tried NUM5 to re-centre the rudder but it is mighty awkward and as the plane is skewing one way, it requires a subsequent correction that turns into a whole mess of gamepad and keyboard inputs while trying to land (I can just about cope taking off).
Thanks!
