I can confirm the sensitivity settings are back, tested with two joysticks. As for any changes to the sensitivity for particular things, you’ll have to test your gear directly.
I’ve been working with Microsoft’s Community Manager for Flight Simulator over the past few weeks to co-host the community fly-in event on their official Twitch stream this Friday, October 2. We’ll be visiting Japan to take advantage of the just-released scenery update. All the details are here: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/official-community-fly-in-event-guided-japan-tour/287988
Hope to see some of you on the stream, either flying along with the group or watching on Twitch.

Sounds like fun! Also, what the hell, until right now I did not know you could save a flightplan for future use. This solves multiple issues!

It gets even better that that! I used SkyVector to chart a flightplan with custom waypoints then copied the GPS coordinates into SimBrief which allows you to create and export a flightplan into a .pln formatted file which can be imported directly into MSFS. :)

Japan looks great so far. Will fly more tonight. But:
KNOWN ISSUES
- Game may crash if the VFR Map is not opened right after starting the flight
I found out the hard way that this warning cannot be ignored. I didn’t turn on the VFR map until I was in cruise, and boom, I crashed immediately. So I guess we should turn on the VFR map immediately, or select the option to have it always on at startup, or ignore it altogether.
This sounds fun! 1900Z on Friday, yes? Er, that would be around 1 pm US east coast time?
Whoa, I need to learn more about this. I’ve registered for SimBrief and will watch the tutorial video tonight. From what I’ve seen of it so far, it’s more robust than Skyvector.
Yeah, I stumbled across that VFR map crash too.

Is that just in Japan or anywhere? That’s a new bug, right?
Spock
1972
Yep, a new bug. I’m guessing it can happen anywhere, but it happened to me in Japan. Everyone on the forums is saying just pre-check the “start with VFR map open” option in the assistance settings, so I think I’ll just do that and leave the thing open or minimized throughout. Although ordinarily I use it only for taxiing, so having to keep it open will be mildly annoying.

I use it to see details when in external view but I hate leaving it up all the time. That’s not good.

Those are indeed bad, but the only one I’ve experienced is the VFR map crash. Some people say that starting with the VFR map fixes it even if you later close and reopen the VFR map. I may or may not test that hypothesis, lol. Off to do some flying now.

I flew a flight with the VFR map minimized the whole way. It went fine. Maybe when i’m goofing around I’ll try starting with the map, then opening and closing it mid-flight.
Can anyone offer tips on how to fly the Bonanza G36, in particular how to fly it straight and level at pattern altitude (1000 AGL)?
I get that I should have the blue prop control level all the way forward at takeoff. I want max throttle too? Shortly after takeoff, I start getting warning lights; I should be pulling back on the blue lever right after takeoff? Still full throttle? What position should the blue level and throttle be at to fly straight and level 1000 AGL?
I actually managed one of my nicer landings, in a crosswind, with the Bonanza – into Las Americas International, on the Dominican Republic. It seemed to glide down nice and slowly at 70 knots with full flaps. Is that its approach speed?

Ouch times two. They need some testing going on. I appreciate the updates/fixes but that highlights the same, to be frank.

The stock G36 is broken and gutless. There’s a mod that helps it quite a bit, but you’ll have to wait for them to update it.

Gonna agree with Matt. I have no clue what is wrong with the Bonanza but it is a very beloved plane and is nowhere near up to snuff in MSFS.
It’s the power issue that gets me. I’d be interested if you can figure that out under the current settings/controls. If so, I’m completely willing to note that as my failing to understand it.
To add to your questions. I’d like to know if having pilot plus three PAX is even feasible. The weight/power notes say yes. The performance says, not if you want to live.

I will say that if you nudge the prop speed lever down to 99%, for some reason that gives you the room to max out your throttle without overspeeding the prop, which gives you about 15% more power.

Really really weird that the moon horizon effect exists in the game. That moon looked a lot bigger than in the screenshot.

One more.
OK 3 more. Flying from France to Germany

@Matt_W You keep outdoing yourself with screenshots. Love those.
Thanks to you and @Skipper for the heads-up on the Bonanza. I asked a couple days ago on the OnAir Discord, and people told me it was OK. But I remember the Bonanza being much more fun and easy to fly in both X-Plane 10 and FSX. Will that modded version work with FSE or OnAir?
@Skipper I tested the VFR map by having it start automatically open, and at the end of a long flight, after I’d already turned off the engines, I opened and closed the VFR map several times; no crash. So that’s a hopeful sign. Tomorrow I’ll test doing the same but while flying around, not on the ground.
I had my first look at Japan today, but I didn’t visit any of the enhanced cities or airports, mostly because I was eager to do my first level 2 OnAir Mission on Thunder, from Osaka to Hiroshima. So the scenery below might not be enhanced; I don’t know.
I’m hearing conflicting reports on whether weather works, but in my case, it was quite true to life: partly cloudy in Osaka, but increasing clouds and rain and wind as I traveled south – just what I saw on METARs. Departure out of Osaka was pleasant:
Gathering clouds and mist as I headed south.
Pea soup as I got close. I did find an approach plate for Hiroshima by Googling, with a localizer, so that was good! I needed it. That approach is crazy scary, with mountains all over the place. I landed safely, though I touched down about halfway down the runway.

Nice shots yourself! Had my own pea soup landing, done properly with an ILS locator and glideslope indicator:
I confess I’ve flown 3 long flights now since the update, never opened the VFR map at all, and never had a crash. I’ve also got AI ATC calls on and the Azure voice. So maybe I’ll regret it one of these days :)
I did have my PFD freeze up on me for several minutes on approach, which gave me a bit of a panic, but my secondary instruments still worked and after 2-3 minutes it all came back online. It did cause me to exceed bank angle on OnAir because my horizon was frozen, which cost me a whole 1.25% in reputation. That’s like 4 flights’ worth :(
I dropped the $40 for Sim Plates Ultra and it’s had plates for every airport I’ve flown to in Europe, with accurate frequencies and approach guidelines. They’re all kind of different and you have to hunt around on the diagram to find what you need, but that’s part of the fun. If you need any plates, just PM me and I’ll try to look them up for you.
