Microsoft TechNet Plus

So for $350 I can download any MS title as an unlimited evaluation copy? Server 2008? Office Professional? Visual Studio?

Does anybody subscribe to this?

$350/annually. It’s not a cheap way to get office and Vista Ultimate in the long run.

So the eval licenses are tied to the subscription?

1 yr to get your keys (usually up to 10 per application) but the keys are good for LIFE! So if you need a lot of licenses it’s a really good deal. Look for 20% off coupons that float around. Once in a while you can get it for $99.

Once the sub is up you can’t generate any more keys or download the images. So just make sure you do all that in the year you have it.

Also, technet doesn’t include the dev tools like the full blown msdn sub does. But all the office apps, os’s (except home server is still MIA), and most of the server stuff (exchange, sql server, etc) is there.

Bizspark is a better deal if you qualify but it is targeted towards companies and not individuals. I’m part of it through my LLC (which consists of just me) but you can probably swing it with just a sole-proprietorship/DBA “company”.

Hmm, well I do own/operate a tech company so I suppose I would qualify. I’ll check it out. Thanks.

The software is for evaluation and testing purposes only, so using them for any other purpose would go against the licensing agreement. I think the exception to that is the Office license, which you are allowed to use for non-evaluation purposes.

But practically speaking, I’m sure loads of people ignore their license and pirate the software for personal use anyway.

I want to use them in my office for testing and training. Mostly only interested in server products.
