But…that’s what makes it so challenging! It’s not supposed to “make sense”.
Besides, you may be surprised at how well lit this cave truly is with all of the lava. Torches would be convenient, but are hardly a necessity. I’m doing fine with redstone torches and the lava.
Thank you for actually say something that’s not screaming and not having a grating voice.
Thanks GuildBoss, will take a look at that later on. And I agree with Bad Neighbor, you have a good voice for this. I’ve looked over some other of your videos and found some of the tutorials helpful and look forward to watching more of the man vs minecraft vids.
Cool, thanks!
Episode 3 is up. I realize my slow, methodical style may not be exciting for some but I want to LIVE and most of the viewers have voted for uncut footage so here it is:

Growing plants with lava light? Awesome.
I really hate the vignette though. My suggestion is to just replace the .png file (it’s in misc folder in the .jar) with flat black to get rid of it. I don’t find that it adds anything to the game other than tunnel vision in darkness.
And when you find iron (or diamond) ore, you should expose the faces of blocks that are at a horizontal or vertical diagonal to the ore, because they can spawn like this (top down view):
X X O X
X O X X
If you just dug out the (O)re that you can see, you wouldn’t find that next column of ore. In fact, if that X right behind the exposed O showed itself to be bare rock, you can be 100% certain that there is ore on a diagonal.

Seed “QT3” yields some remarkably varied and forested terrain. Just head for the mountain range from wherever you spawn.

Sigh. Minecraft is crashing again on the Mojang splash screen after logging in. It did this months ago with me trying every trick in the book on W7 x64 to get it running again. Updating/downgrading Java 32/64, video drivers, deleting .minecraft, etc. Finally I just reinstalled the entire OS from scratch and that fixed the issue. Now it’s back and I am jonesing for minecraft - but not enough to wipe my system again.

Anything in the logs that you could diagnose? I have W7x64 and haven’t ever had a persistent crash issue with Minecraft. I know that doesn’t help but maybe something in your logs might?
Install ubuntu in a VM and run it in that.
The crashes we had (also win7 64) went away entirely (so far) by turning down the view distance from Far to Normal. Sounds like you’ve already been playing for awhile, but that was a simple fix for our issue.

He’s got it on the splash screen, unfortunately.

Yeah, no changing options. I can’t even get the console screen to display when it’s running, it takes down the entire java system. Other java applications run fine including ones that use the video card.

Any word on logs? I’m not sure where errors are kicked back nowadays.
It also might be worthwhile to use a launcher, like MrM Patcher has a “test minecraft” button that loads the game while showing lines of java in a console window and what’s happening.

The entire Java system crashes before displaying anything useful in the output.
Is there a later version of v1.8_1 for MrM patcher? I didn’t see a test minecraft button or anything similar.

This is the thread for the patcher:

It’s the HD Texture fix patcher.
‘REPORTED’ is a rather plain seed, but you spawn next to a cliff with lake at the bottom. Good for a quick jump.

edit:ooh, from the official forums, use ‘-49817263’ and go north

edit2: and another dramatic one ‘-8549402205292850626’
not for those with a fear of heights.
