It’s not, they’ve deliberately nerfed the upward momentum it imparts, so no more bouncy hijinks.

Damn, I was pretty happy to see that in the first video, and noticed that this video has a sand block that moves up only like 2 spaces.

Stupid. Why does Notch hate fun? He programmed physics into his engine and there isn’t a single use of it at all except for shooting arrows, and I guess dispensers shooting items.

So is it now possible to make an underwater bridge that rises above the water on a button press? Or a trash compactor room like in star wars?

I don’t think a bridge larger than 1 block will work. The empty space won’t fill with water springs, the water will only flow into it.

Wonder if you can get pistons raising pistons raising pistons etc etc. Think that’s the first toy block I kinda wanna mess with.

Definitely doubt it.

Yes, larger than 1 block wide, but with the touch of a button you could make a foot path rise that extends across an ocean! Or recede into the ocean. In fact you could have switches out there the raised new paths, and lowered the old one.

I’m sure you could have pistons raise pistons, if you take the time to do the circuit right. How much space or time that would take would be the key to its feasibility though. - maybe a delay that activates the second piston when it reaches its new height.

Though I much prefer the idea raised above, adding more parts in like a chest to increase the length of the piston - though I see no indication of that.

I know you couldn’t have pistons pushing pistons with the original mod, but some people are speculating that it may now work since you’d need to do so to make that secret door that Jeb showed off in that video (i.e., you need a piston behind the stone blocks to pull them inward, and then pistons on the sides pulling in both the stone and the first set of pistons to clear the way).

If there were oceans. All I ever got was really large lakes.

Fugitive that’s an interesting point.

You’d need to mess around with that world generation mod =(

I have yet to take a normal world and MCEdit it and raise the water level by like 15 blocks. It’d be kinda funny seeing all the water that would pour down into cave systems.

I guess that would work as well as the one that messes with world generation settings.

It would be better, because it’d be more like something flooded the world. Modding the generation would be more like… changing the sand layer and all that crap.

I want trees underwater.

The idea of more ‘realistic’ worlds with true oceans is undone by scale. If you want real oceans and endless coasts you’re going to need airplanes or something to get around quicker.

I don’t need to get around, I just need to know that the beach I’m standing on is the end of an entire landmass.

The other problem is your exploration options are then halved, if 50% of your view is endless (or close to) water.

You could always make your own map. Using something like world painter, it will take you 5mins to make an island surrounded by ocean.

I’d really like to know why they removed the piston jumping feature. It was probably the most useful feature.

Speaking of elevators, here’s one I built earlier. It’s not much, just to test a few things out. When I gather enough resources I’ll make a proper one that will let you select which floor to stop at(hopefully).

So? I have an infinite number of other maps I can explore.

Nope, because at some point on your boat trip the game is going to generate a new chunk of land.

What the hell, which mod added water wheels?

Real oceans can be implemented by making a water biome, then maybe put some landmarks in the borders. Shells in the beachs of oceans will sufice. If you are next to a big water body, and there are shells in the sand, is a ocean.

Better than Wolves and maps.
