You know what would be kind of neat, and maybe you can already do this, but link multiple player servers through in game portals…
You could raid each others servers for supplies while raping and pillaging… well pillaging.

The engine really doesn’t have the fidelity for giant mushrooms, I don’t think.
Are those all paid users? Wouldn’t that make Minecraft one of the best-selling games of all time? Does that mean Notch is a 100-millionaire? That seems hard to believe.
Nah, registered users aren’t necessarily paid users. According to minecraft.net, only a mere 2.7 million users have paid for it, so he’s a 30-to-40-ish-millionaire at best…
I think a pretty large chunk of it came in after he formed Mojang though, so technically it’s in the company coffers rather than his own pockets.

It seems like it’s one of those things that hasn’t quite made sense to him yet. Like he’ll check an online account, see $20 million in there, and go “hrm… god damn” and then go back to work or chilling with his fiance or whatever.
When is he going to take that Airplanes mod and permanently put it into the game? Because the airplanes are pretty cool. :P

If he includes NPC villages, I hope he includes NPCs and some interesting ways to interact with them. It would be nice if he could turn the minecraft world into a living world that you explore opposed to a static world that only changes when you change it.
I’d honestly be very surprised if his NPC villages are anything close to what the Millenare mod has accomplished.
Not to be a naysayer, but, well, “nay.”

The Millenare mod is ok. The problem for me is that once a town is done, nothing interesting happens beyond more and more NPCs. Now if the NPCs established other towns and then factions formed and there was war and/or trade, that could be cool. However the towns are just somewhat static once built. Id want something with far more depth than Millenare.
Personally I would like him to copy Industrial craft and take that a lot further as well as a lot of the other mods that simply make the world more interesting to explore. I really do not care about a new mob type, be it a wolf or monster.
If he includes NPC villages
…then I hope he includes the ability to craft Zippo lighters
“We had to destroy the NPC village in order to save it.”
Build a really tall tower and drop creepers from orbit, its the only way to be sure.
I just want more “stuff”, more blocks, more crafting options, basically more Dwarf Fortress in my Minecraft.
I will also take more uses for existing blocks…gold, string, and cloth are all kind of lacking in utility at the moment, though gold less so since the minecart track update.
Unfortunately, I think notch’s villages will be little more than static eye candy. With the villager NPCs doing nothing but wondering around in circles all day.
While Industrial craft is a great mod it doesn’t really add anything useful to the game. It just adds more junk to craft. Bits and pieces of Better than Wolves would be a much better fit. It adds things like ropes and pulleys, used to make things like elevators and portcullis.

His villages were supposed to be goblins, not stupid ass regular NPCs. I don’t want more humans.

DocLazy:
That is your opinion. I think Industrial Minecraft adds a lot to the game. Yes its just more stuff to build, but isn’t that what minecraft is all about? I do like having a mining drill with a few bat-packs that lets me hoover through stone and ore like there is no tomorrow. I like having one tool that doubles as a diamond pick and shovel while the other tool doubles as an axe / sword. I like having a nano-suit that heals me, lets me jump really high, run really fast, and eliminates falling damage.
I like having electro-furnaces which run 24/7 (if I need them to) which require no fuel or batteries on my part. Its a lot more than “just more stuff to build” to me.
Your description sounds exactly like “just more stuff to build”. Or more exactly, “build stuff to ore and build/craft even more stuff”.
Goblins or humans, it doesn’t matter a lot. The question is, what’s the purpose of said goblins or humans?
To wage war with each other. Since, after all, war is the means to all purposes and the reason for all mean things to happen.
