Umm, that’s kind of awesome.

Mushroom house is rad.
So, you just put a mushroom on the ground and then use bonemeal on it?

Yup, the red ones produce the one you see above the brown ones just make a flat mushroom.
Unfortunately they don’t break apart into blocks, just more mushrooms.

I can’t seem to log on, did the internets break minecraft?
That looks awesome. Is that the maximum size that they grow? Would be awesome to have really “giant” mushrooms.

Wait, so does that mean 1.9 is going to be post-“release” then? I thought the official release date was 11-11-11, like Skyrim.
My test 1.8 world is turning out really well. The seed is: 7127301870674444225
It’s got an ocean, some desert and rolling hills besides a mountain range, complete with floating island.

It also has fissures and lots of caverns to explore (watch your step!) along with lakes and forests.

So far so good. I like the new terrain generator.

Yeah, I thought the previous terrain generator overhaul was nice, but this one blows it out of the sky.
Really like the bottom-most shot. Very watery and vibrant. What texture pack is that?
It’s called Mine CO. Adventures: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/301268-16x18-mine-co-adventures-new-v-14-over-13k-downloads/
It’s actually not too far from the default look. But I really like what it does with landscapes.
The Mine CO. Adventures Is a native resolution (16x16) texture set with custom water and lava, GUI, armor, paintings, mobs and has new graphics for most everything else you see while playing Minecraft. Though while it changes almost everything it still try’s to keep the feel of the original game without compromising detail or quality.

I was really looking forward to coming home and trying this out, but the server appears to be down, so no update for me… sigh…

New terrain looks super impressive.
Can we get some screenshots of some new terrain WITHOUT some lame texture pack ruining it? :( It doesn’t look ugly, it just doesn’t look like actual Minecraft.

Whoops, there was a misinterpretation of what Jeb said, the final actual-release release will be during Minecon (it was originally 11-11-11, but Notch then delayed it a bit), and there’s no specific timeframe for 1.9 yet. I hope it’s not too long, as I don’t want to start a new, serious-construction world while biomes are still in flux.

You could, you know, start the game up and see for yourself.

I couldn’t login to get the update and now I’m getting a “too many failed logins” message. How long do I have to wait for that to reset?

Crap, accidentally pissed off a pack of pigmen on the other side of my Nether Portal and may have lost a bunch of stuff as a result. They’re camping out right at the Portal.

I tried out the pre-release 1.8, and it was incredibly slow for me as well. 1.7 gave me a constant 60+ fps. 1.8 was between 10 and 15 fps.
This is on a 2.77 i5 quad core, 6850 1 gig, win 7 64 4 gig box. It runs everything else maxed just fine.
What’s the deal with this update?

Well now I’m back to “can’t login”. lol

I couldnt log in, but then I went to the website, logged in there, downloaded a completely new version, and suddenly everything started working again…
Not sure if my timing was just right or that fixed something…

Wow, that did it. Thanks! :)
