Tried 1.8 last night. MC crashed after 2 minutes telling me I don’t have enough memory or that the jave does not have enough memory allocated :(

Works fine for me (both in yesterday’s 1.8.0 and today’s 1.8.1).

Any early farming that will keep one fed without a lot of expensive materials? I haven’t played in months and just trying to get back into it and remember simple things like how to make doors, etc.

Hmm, was expecting food loss during sleep, but seems not to happen so my starvation possibility is pretty much gone that I was worried about.

Indeed. You don’t lose any food while you sleep. So that helps a bit.

Personally, I made a hoe, got some seeds and am maintaining a mini garden near my initial shelter. That way, I can get some bread from the wheat when I end up there. Bread doesn’t require baking.

Also, even if you starve, your hearts will go down to 5 hearts, but you don’t die. So that gives you time to kill some cows or pigs for their meat.

I’m playing with the view distance set to far and haven’t had any crashes yet. The usual: Check that you are using 64 bit java if on a 64 bit OS applies, I guess? I don’t think you are alone experiencing crashes though.

We updated Minecraft across three computers last night and didn’t have any real issues thankfully. The kids spent all their after homework time tooling around in the new creative mode and really loved it.

I started up a new world as usual. I love the new stone block and the fence gates are just what I’ve wanted for ages.

Sorry for testing a new texture pack and spoiling the screenshots. Well, kinda sorry. :)

You’ll love the terrain generator, I’m sure (unless I’ve been particularly lucky). Every direction I’ve explored has been interesting and exciting so far.

Installing Java 7 x64 fixed my out-of-memory problems. (windows 7 64)
