I remember when I first heard about it on these boards, and took the plunge for the Alpha for 10 bucks. I was in the 9 thousandth person range for purchasing, and remember thinking I was pretty impressed they had sold almost 10k copies of a game in alpha lol. If only there would have been stock, I most certainly would have bought it. I had a major minecraft addiction for a good 6 months at least.

MC is the only game I have had to force myself to uninstall…twice.
I bought Minecraft in the Alpha state as well, and wow. I think that’s the best 10 or 15 bucks I ever spent. I still go through periods where I can’t stop playing for weeks or months at a time (the 1.7 update has been pretty amazing).
Anyone ever had to deal with mojang’s customer service? I haven’t played in ages and forgot my password. Now my youngest wants to play it, their password reset system don’t send me emails, I’ve filled a form been waiting for a week now for them to respond.
I wonder if that’s on par with Swedish CS in general.

They changed from Minecraft passwords into you needing a Mojang account instead - It was a bit of a hassle to be honest - is that what you are experiencing?

Their customer support is pretty awful. It ranks up there with UBISoft support for inefficiency and general ineptness. A week long wait isn’t too surprising. I’d give it another week and see if they manage to email you the copy/paste boilerplate response.

A little surprising coming from an indie developer, but I guess notch doesn’t really need the money and hassle, assuming he’s involved at all in the day of his company. This is why I prefer to buy on Steam or some other established platform and not directly from developer’s site. I don’t need to dig up old codes and user names if I feel like playing something I bought a few years ago. Its all waiting for me in my library. I know most developers are very good at helping with these issues, but then why do I need the hassle?
Is there anyway to contact anyone there other then submitting a form?
OK, how does this twitter thing work? I see there’s an option to tweet at him. Is this going to be posted on his page or something?
I would try @LydiaWinters, their community rep, actually. She might be more responsive.
Having never used Twitter before, I had to read about how to use it. It seems it’s not possible to send a message, but instead can 'mention’s person. How do they see it when they don’t follow me?
You see every tweet that has your twitter handle in it. So no, you’re not really sending them a message directly but it still works out that way.
And don’t bother sending anything to Notch, he’s only tangentially related to Minecraft now days.
So it you were to tweet something like - “@LydiaWinters, I can’t get @MojangTeam to respond to a #Minecraft login/support issue! Help!”
That would probably do the trick. The @‘s will show up in those peoples’ feeds. So Lydia will see it, along with MojangTeam, which has a dedicated twitter feed. The # is generic tag, so anybody that monitors that term will also see it - just a way to ensure exposure - 1,000,000+ people reading a tweet can lead to rapid response from a tardy business.
Thanks a lot, I’ll try that out.
I’m feeling a little internet nerd rage creeping up on me, even though I swore I’ll never take any of this stuff too seriously.
Horray - they replied and it only took 10 days. Turns out I was trying to restore my password using my email, instead of using my username.
Anyone knows of a nice server where I can play with my son?

Your best bet is to just run a server on your computer, and the two of you can connect to it. local lan play is easy and quick and you can download the server exe from minecraft.net easy enough.
That sounds better, I’ll try that.
You can also “open to lan” the current single-player game you’re playing, which may make it even easier.
Yeah, I was just going to suggest this – the only reason it might not be as good is if you want him to be able to play on the world without you (though he could just share his world instead of you share yours, I suppose).
