Oooo. I was thinking about doing the same thing, but I was trying to figure out where to do it and the layout. I’ll punch some sheep and send some wool your way.

Absolutely. I have been murdering sheep by the dozens lately.

If you all want to help, feel free to do so. If you go to the entrance of the frontier, then follow the elevated highway to my swimming pool, you will see the shell of a castle I started on the right. There are exactly 50 blocks between the frontier wall and the rear wall of the swimming pool. I started evening the land and laid some wool down to show the locations of goal and yardage lines. Feel free to tear down the castle shell if you want. We will also have to route the highway a little differently so it doesn’t overlap the field.

I finally got VirtualDub to work, so I uploaded a video of about 1/3 of the Frontier highway to youtube.

There appears to be a bad chunk that interrupts the C right after the megaman stop. Is that repairable?

I played on some no holds barred pvp server the other day, and it was rapidly getting several bad chunks.

Like this?

I believe it is caused by a drop in communication. I ran into this one and tried to show Skipper, who rightly thought I was off my rocker. Just exit and rejoin the server if you see them.

yeah that makes sense. I suspect their server code still has a way to go. Thanks.

I also just noticed that the textures on the map aren’t showing cloth colors.

Planetcrap beat ya to it!

I loved that conversation though. “If you jump here you’ll fall and eventually crash the client.” So I jumped into perfectly fine looking grass. Looked back at you. I see you looking up and down. I take a sip of my beer, waiting. Then you crash out completely and come back. I thought perhaps you were sampling the home brew a bit. :)

Actually, not long after that I went to explore that glass and lava tower and ended up crashing. There has been some serious time sink into the QT3 map.

The only thing that kind of bugged me was that the server isn’t survival really. No mobs. It made exploring the caves and such a bit less exciting. Then again, it probably made building all of that stuff more possible.

I’ll look into updating the map software later this week, so you can see all the new blocks.

I’m working out in the frontier on my element inspired Castle Southwick. The fire tower is up. My intention is to create water, earth, and air inspired towers, and then do combination towers in-between. Clay for Earth/Water, Lava for Earth/Fire, Snow for Water/Air, etc.

Also, anybody interested in working on a method of transportation out to my site in the middle of nowhere is welcome to do so. I’d love to have visitors :)

The night view on the map doesn’t show up for me-anything special I need to do to see it?

I think it’s been broken for about a month, but you’re the first to bring it up. I’ll get it fixed when I do the other stuff too. PS, cave mode might vanish. Will anyone unduly mind?

Cave mode is so hard to read I’m not sure how you would use it well anyway.

Sure. No idea where you are, though.

For those that aren’t based in the frontier, this is the link to the latest item data values: minecraftwiki.net/wiki/File:DataValuesV110.png

Linkable goodness.

Is it possible to enable dungeon spawners, but not random monster spawning? I ask because the frontier could use some bone meal. Or maybe make spawning very rare, disabling creepers altogether?

You probably can with a server-side mod like bukkit, but we’ve been trying to keep to vanilla as much as possible, I think. Every time there’s a new version it winds up breaking everything twice, as the server has to be updated to the new release and then the mod has to be updated as well.

It would be nice if there was a “spawn monsters underground only” setting, though.

Or more simply, spawn anything but creepers, which are the only real threat to everything that’s been built on the server. I’m not sure if there is an ability to pick and choose the spawn types though.
