Only with mods. I am bored of vanilla MC. Whenever Industrial craft 2, and build craft are updated for 1.0 Id up for a SMP version with those mods. Additional mods I like are Timber, which lets you chop down a tree in one block, and the buildcraft additional pipes (for use with buildcraft obviously) which add more fun pipes to buildcraft.

I hope they update those mods for 1.0 soon. I am just about done with my first run through skyrim and want something else to do for a while.

I’d definitely be up for some vanilla SMP.

I’ve been running a 1.0 vanilla smp server for my sons and their friends and it’s good to be back. I’d be up for some smp too.

Hells yes.

Count me in.

Yes, but without buildcraft I’m sure that I’ll end up getting bored rather quickly.

Thanks for doing that

Find some good seeds first. All the qt3 maps have been sorta uninteresting. The last one was pretty good but got less interesting outside of the cool little valley we had going.

I just started playing again. Perfect timing. Count me in!

This still sounds fantastic. If I had any idea how to set something like this up, I would. Anybody going to take the reins? I’m happy to go along for the ride.

This is too pretty to not be posted here.

That is nice. Was there a mod involved in the terrain generation or did someone make those the landscape look like that?

I bet is hand-made, here seems to be the source:

Is a really beautiful area, who did it is a true artist :-I

It really is.

Now that I’ve scratched my Skyrim itch, I feel like getting back into Minecraft, so I’m in the process of setting up a Tekkit server (a combination of Bukkit and the Technic Pack), and you’re all welcome to join, if you’d like.

First though, we need a decent world to start in. After trying a whole bunch of new worlds, it’s surprisingly difficult to get one that isn’t just a lot of swamp or forest or sand, and has some good open building areas, or isn’t dominated by those RedPower rubber trees… I’ve generated maps of the most promising ones so far and put them here, if anyone would prefer to start on one of them. Or suggest a seed of your own, if you know some good ones.

(The weird grid areas are where volcanoes are located; Overviewer doesn’t render a lot of the Technic stuff properly.)

I’d love to join in some more qt3 mp minecraft madness! Do you have links to those mods handy by any chance?

Yes, I know I’m lazy.

http://technicpack.net/?page_id=290

I got unlazy. This is one place you can download the tekkit mod. And you’ll need a clean 1.0.0 version of Minecraft to download it onto.

I’m probably posting to people who already knew all about all of this stuff…

Anyway, this’ll be the first mod to Minecraft I’ve tried.

I’m putting together a support page with some instructions about how to set stuff up, some problems that might pop up, etc., since there are some extra steps if you want to use it without affecting your regular Minecraft client. Short version for now: there are some Minecraft profile manager apps, or you can write a script that redirects APPDATA to somewhere else. Also, the 64-bit Java runtime really helps, as the mods make it even more memory-hungry.

Edit: Also they’re planning on releasing a new Tekkit version soon, so don’t be too quick to install!

I haven’t played Minecraft since way back in Beta, could definitely be interested in something like this Fugitive.

Okay, the new release of Tekkit is out, so I’ve got the server up and running now at nerdfarm.planetcrushers.com, with an info site here. You still need a plain 1.0.0 client as your starting point, and 1.1 is due out soon (tomorrow, Jens was hoping), so you’ll need to install Tekkit soon or make a backup copy.

The whitelist is enabled, so just let me know what your Minecraft name is (I don’t have a full copy of the one from the older worlds).
