It might not be as efficient, but you can get 900+ rubber from one of those massive rubber trees. Get a team together and you can have fun chopping it to bits. Especially if you have jetpacks and can fly to the top and work your way down. There are maybe ten of these trees visible from my house out west.

if I load the mod, can I still play on normal servers, or do I need to swap minecraft jars each time? I run a server myself, but want to check out all these goodies you have =)

The instructions on the site set it up so that it’s a completely parallel install, you can both run tekkit.bat to run with mods and connect to the server, and continue to update and play on normal servers via the regular minecraft.exe. (I’ve actually been able to connect to a friend’s vanilla server with the Tekkit client, and it seemed to work, but I wouldn’t really rely on it and it still keeps you from updating to 1.1)

A railway system from my colony to the mainland. MATERIALS NEEDED: 4200 cobblestone/dirt for the bridge, 1225 rails, 175 powered rails, 175 redstone torches.

Option to #1 - create the railway UNDER the ocean, to alleviate the difficulty of creating a surface bridge. Advantages: collect a metric arseload of cobblestone and minerals in the process. Disadvantages: need to light the entire track to deter hostile mob spawns in the subway, no real idea of how deep the ocean is along the route (ergo, how far down do we build it?"

Thanks for the info, and I should’ve paid more attention to the site in the first place, so thank you for also not blatantly telling me to RTFM =) I hope to get this going tonight. can I get whitelisted? my ign is Fozzthulu

Well, I’m done hosting for awhile but when I was I used Beastnode. Had the server for about 18 months and was very happy with it. They use SSD and have a decent enough front end. Their response time on tickets was also great.

Well, I was thinking of starting a new world with a 1.4-based release, which kind of killed the enthusiasm for any current projects, but it looks like the future of Tekkit is pretty bleak:

(Short version: getting Forge and Bukkit to play nice is getting too difficult; guy that’s been doing it isn’t going to anymore)

I’ll probably shut down the NF server in a couple weeks, in case anyone wants another look around, and put up the archive of the world. But, I have something else potentially in the works. Something a little…rougher…
