Crazy, the map shows flowing water.

Oh, yeah, it is. I got pissed and cheated.

Be nice or I’ll fill your house up.

Ya, I cheat on water too because to be quite frank, in Singl Player, I could grab two buckets and make a new source anywhere to fill as many buckets as my heart desires. So in MP, I cheat - only with water - because buckets are borked.

Buckets should always be borked. I didn’t cheat because I loved the idea that I had to bring water to my field in order to grow reeds, so I built a little aqueduct.

Recreating water anywhere you want is a pretty big downside to the game, IMO. It trivializes finding a nice spot to build where you have access to water, or building something to bring the water to you. The water system in this game is still woefully broken, I think.

People are cheating in the frontier now? Bummer. I figured I would wait for the patch to update instead of summoning stuff.

If we want to see biomes in the new patch it sounds like we’ll have to move further afield anyway. Luckily the hell dimension should make fast travel over long distances relatively painless, at least until damage and evil mobs are implemented in multiplayer.

Also, I think we should make all new areas ‘no summoning’. If people want to build ginormous structures they can do so near the original spawn.

Every block of cobble, glass and everything else I’ve laid down has been pulled out of the ground. Cheating is too strong a word for it. Summoning a couple springs isn’t a damn thing after spending hours strip mining cobble and coal. Cheating is leveling mountains with tnt.

Doesn’t that go against the two-servers-in-one-philosophy? We did build the Great Wall to keep the two separate.

I was going to suggest making the summon zone a circle around the spawn, but with the addition of hell I’m going to want to go summoning way further away, so disregard that idea.

Also for the record, I still think the single-server approach is the right one.

The summoning area is massive. As long as we keep expanding the frontier instead, I don’t think it will be a problem.

DoomMunky and gremlinclr: I have built the highway right to your back door. However, I am left with two options:

  1. Build the road along the coast. Pro: leaves your places untouched so that you can connect at your leisure and is easier to locate on the map. Con: It will take have to take a very wide path around.

  2. Build the road through the trees. Pro: much more convenient for travelling and building. Con: It goes straight through your territory.

Let me know which works best and I’ll build accordingly.

The night map will be broken for a few days. It’s being regenerated from scratch which takes about 16hrs. Once it’s done there should be no more of those annoying grids in the water.

The only problem I can think of regarding separate zones is that if biomes are implemented and functional in SMP, we might end up in a situation where a particular biome is only available in one zone or the other.

For example, if only one desert has been found and it’s in the frontier zone, but summoners want to build in a desert setting, well there’s a conflict. I guess the only thing to do then would be to explore enough to find another desert somewhere.

Is someone planning on blowing a hole in the frontier border?

I suppose they want to crash the server…

If that’s still there tonight I’m going to wander over and set it on fire.

That’s a nice pile of tnt you have there. It’d be a shame if something happened to it.

Edit: That much TNT is enough to send several flying off into the frontier. We may want to build up the wall first.

Yeah, just FYI they blew up nowhere near that much TNT on the OO server, and it caused a server crash.
