I dunno. But I know the first thing I’m going to do is to attempt to dig upward, though I suspect that purple bedrock type of block we’re seeing is unbreakable.

Damn is this little game addictive. Can I get in on the server as well, username: Thragash

I’d love to get in on the action!

“teledyne9”

I may as well get in on the multi fun too, if you please, as HalibutBarn. I haven’t been feeling particularly creative lately, but just hearing about all these great works just isn’t the same.

Added you three.

I am incredibly impressed at you guys. I am playing on a server with a few friends, and none of us have anything as creative as all this. I may play with you all at some later date =D

So in what may have been one of the most spectacular things I have ever done in Minecraft, I sailed off the edge of the world this morning.

I decided to go exploring out beyond the pirate city, found an ocean, and proceeded to sail outward. I suddenly noticed that “wait, the terrain has stopped updating in front of me”, but I really didnt pay attention till I went over the edge in a graceful arc. I saw all the caverns, lava and rock forming the wall behind me as I fell, and after I passed the bottom of the world, I proceeded to fall for the next several minutes until I finally gave up and teleported back to the spawn location.

Not sure why that happened…

because the world is flat :p

But in all my previous exploring, Minecraft is supposed to create the terrain in front of you as you go. (Thats why the map looks like it does. Checkers and others went exploring in directions, creating those long tails.) And the last time I went to an unexplored area before today, thats what happened. However, this time, it decided that it wasnt going to fill in the missing land.

You just got ahead of it. I found myself at “the edge of the world” at one point (or so I thought) but after a few minutes it started drawing in as normal.

That happened to me when I was playing at work. I just blamed the terrible network we have there.

Personally, I think it would be pretty damn cool if each world wasn’t theoretically infinite, but was actually possible to circumnavigate.

This would have the advantage of allowing biomes to be placed logically, instead of the currently-planned random mishmash.

I didn’t know notch planned on doing the biomes the way he did. I was expecting them to be continental or something. Would have also made boats a bit more useful/fun.
When biomes are introduced, what happens to existing maps? Will it just affect newly discovered parts of the map? Or will the biomes just appear now?

Notch plans to make biomes larger in the future.

It seems like the Halloween update is out. I’m getting an ‘outdated client’ error on the server.

I cant connect to minecraft.net at all…

its getting slammed. i guess the qt3 server needs to be updated now too, i got the update but says “outdated client” when i try to connect.

Someone come on and lets go through together!

Sadly, it seems like portals don’t work in multiplayer yet :(. You can build them, but not teleport through.

I can’t get the client to connect… hopefully just mad updating and not more ddos stupidity.
