I’m at work, but last night I placed a booster at my base for testing.

Updated the server. What do people think about putting a minecart track alongside the “C”?

BN what did you have planned in regards to road and track layout? The standard road is 5 wide, so track on the outside edges going opposite ways?

I vote for elevated rail.

Minecarts currently suck. Boosters make the carts move faster than the server can load chunks. Coal carts work fine, but are damn slow. You also cannot remove carts once placed.

edit: and coal carts only recognize the coal of the person that places it.

edit 2: And coal carts do not start working again when they run out of coal and you add more.

They’re still indestructible huh? I’ll continue to wait then.

Is there any way to destroy minecarts? Lava will work right?

Yeah, lava works, but man is it a pain to get rid of if you’re not fast.

Hey friendlies, please add me to the scrolls: Subt3xt

Could I get added to the whitelist? My username is blackisis (duh).

I’m getting “Connection Refused” when trying to log in…

The server probably crashed. (‘connection refused’ is the standard TCP response when nothing’s actually there to accept your connection)

[SERVER] Exception in thread "Server thread" java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space

Fixed now.

So should we start laying mine tracks or what? I’m all for it!

Outside of roads or inside?

Ugh. The server is popping blocks back in right after I clear them. They disappear properly after a second chopping, but it makes for slow, uneven building and clearing.

It’s a problem introduced by the latest patch, unfortunately. I’m definitely holding off on any more large-scale building or exploration until it’s fixed.

it happened to me a few times before the patch. i think its server lag that has been made worse by the patch.

If the problem with minecarts moving faster than the world can generate blocks can be fixed, I will probably have two lanes on either side, one block from the edge. The edge will have occasional boosters facing opposite directions. Alternately, if iron is a problem, a single lane with Y intersections a booster points will be used and we’ll just have to deal with the occasional head-on collision.

Thankfully, regular boosters work great. I decided to make the most of it and build a rollercoaster at my base. It works, but it’s not much and goes a little too fast. I don’t have a screenshot yet because minecraft.net is down again.

Edit: People are welcome to alter the track or add to it, just be aware that the cart does not maintain momentum in the air.

There seems to be a problem where being in a vehicle prevents it from loading new chunks at all. Even in a slow-moving boat, I’ll hit an unloaded block boundary before long and it’ll refuse to load until I get out of the boat. That’s probably contributing to the minecart problem as well, and if he fixes that problem and maybe caps the minecart speed a bit lower, that might be good enough.

Administrivia: I’ve updated the summoning script with the new Halloween blocktypes:
You can now summon (by name): netherstone, lightstone, lightstonedust, slowsand (aka mud), pumpkin and jackolantern.

I also took the chance to remove some old cruft from the script, if it stops working or anything let me know.

Whoa, did you change the textures on the map? Also, someone has been going nuts in the summoning zone. There is a gigantic brick pyramid and glass sphere.
