I’d recommend Misa’s pack myself, it’s excellent, I can’t give a link unfortunately, need to get my post count up, but its easy enough to find on the official forums.

The server has been updated. PVP and monster spawning have been enabled.

Someone needs to make a deathmatch mod.

Watch out, falling and environment damage is active. When you die you appear in a void and have to /home back to spawn. Inventory is lost. Avoid lava and water and don’t build anything high in the frontier or you’ll be in for a long walk.

Oops. Now it’s night and there’s Creepers and other mobs about. I don’t think the one that killed me blew up anything more than a path.

edit: I thought PVP and monster spawning meant you could hit each other, and place those monster spawning blocks. The server seems to be the same as the single player game, I can’t summon either. Is it meant to be this way?

Creepers? That’s going to make construction interesting…

I died instantly upon logging in, not sure why. I headed back, the client froze at some point and I shut it down and logged back in again and had my pre-death inventory back. I almost made it back to my place before night fell, but got jumped by a spider and died. Upon returning to there I couldn’t see my stuff on the ground, but could still pick it back up if I wandered around the right spot. I could also pick up the stuff in my house from my initial death, essentially duping everything I was holding.

I don’t hear any sounds when attacking monsters, even though I still see the damage flash. Things seem to be taking way too long to kill though, as it took something like six or seven hits with a diamond sword just to kill a zombie. A creeper was behaving rather erratically, kind of moving around in a circle before he exploded (with no warning sizzle). I made a bow, but it seems really inaccurate, and I couldn’t recover the arrows that missed afterward.

Spent a while monster-proofing my house, of course, and now I’ll have to check on the rest of my ever-expanding cave empire. I’ve got a handful of monster spawners that I’ve neutralized and will have to experiment with a bit…

Monsters are very much invisible to me. I lost a lot of stuff near spawn, and am currently cowering in my one protected room in the frontier. Thank goodness Notch fixed doors.

I logged in a little while ago, atop my giant construction. Saw a lot of creepers etc running about on the ground far below. Server seemed responsive and all that. Unfortunately after about 5 minutes I managed to fall off said giant construction and died. God knows if I’ll ever find my way back there again. Also, I couldn’t summon anything but that may be by design?

I’ve got a ton of work to do monster proofing my place. God knows how I’ll do it. Lava maybe.

I forgot to restart the summon scripts Datter, they should work fine always.

Is your client currently set to ‘Peaceful’ mode? Apparently that’s stopping monsters from rendering even if they’re still there on the server side.

i’m glad i got the airship built before falling damage got fixed. god knows i fell alot…

Apparently, there are no atheists in survival multiplayer.

Pretty much all my constructions would be impossible with falling damage. Large walls (sea level > max height) are built by jumping and placing blocks below me, then falling forward and repeating. As for the skycanal and area we have SW, I’d even be hesitant about heading back there, one slip or bit of lag and its a 5 min walk.

theres also a lot of tecniques for safe landing, like using water or ladders.

So, I log in last night and it loads just in time to see myself get killed instantly by a skeleton. Yeeeeahhh. I didn’t even have time to unload my inventory. At least with my inventory autoduping my diamond pick I’ve got plenty.

I found a new spider spawner, but with the combat lag and extra hits needed there was no way I could kill them off faster than they spawned, so I had to dig around it to place torches close enough to deactivate it, leave so that they despawned, and then come back.

You really need to see what we build, where and how to understand how water/ladders will make no difference at all.

I play because I like building massive constructions, the single player game is for when the MP server is down. I dont really care for materials, mobs and dying, alll that matters is the building itself. I don’t want to spend hours laying down and removing 10000 blocks of scaffolding either…
