Misbehaving Vista gadget

We have somewhat elderly acquaintances who call upon me from time to time to help with computer problems. My details on this one are sketchy, so please bear with me. Apparently they have the Vista clock gadget on their desktop in three different places, and every time they mouse over any of them, the computer locks up.

I’ll be connecting to their computer via Logmein. I’m assuming there’s some way to shut down troublesome gadgets without interacting with them on the desktop, right?

I’ve successfully avoided Vista, so I’m not familiar with the ins and outs. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, right click on the gadget sidebar, then properties and the “view list of running gadgets” button. You can remove gadgets from the menu it will bring up
