Been going through my RTS collection and finding it quite extensive – if I may say so myself:
Age of Empires II
Age of Mythology
Battlezone
Battlezone II
Command and Conquer (ALL)
Commandos
Conquest: Frontier Wars
Desperados
Emperor: Battle for Dune
Evil Genius
Ground Control
Homeworld (ALL)
The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth
The Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-earth II
Machines
Majesty: The Fantasy Kingdom
MechCommander Gold
MechCommander 2
Myth (ALL)
Nexus: The Jupiter Incident
Pikmin
Pikmin II
Populous: The Beginning
Rise of Nations+Expansion
Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends
Sacrifice
Star Wars: Empire at War
StarCraft
Total Annihilation+Expansions
Total War (ALL)
Warcraft (ALL)
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War
Warzone 2100
Now I’m simply wondering if I missed any good RTSs. Ones I could play until Company of Heroes, Medieval II, and most importantly Supreme Commander lay claim to my soul.
Hegemonia was crap. There’s no reason to build any ship models but the biggest ones you can, the weapon trees are all functionally identical, and every ship always blows up the exact same way.
Let’s see, you missed Tribal Rage.
And, holy crap Dominion: Storm Over Gift 3 isn’t on your list either.
I don’t see M.A.X. or M.A.X.2 on your list.
Antaeus Rising is suspiciously absent as well.
Above posts were in fact sarcasm.
On a slightly more serious note, if you can find it, Original War is an interesting take on RTS.
Perimeter. Neat game from Russia. Has some problems, but also has some interesting new ideas. Some nice music. No Starforce.
Edit: Ever play TA Kingdoms? Not as good as TA itself, but still worth a look. Notable for having a completely mobile side whose only buildings are campfires. Its documentary approach to cutscenes is downright surreal in a fantasy context.
