I’d love to see the Tigers advance in this series, but Verlander does not have a good post-season record.
“Tigers cannot score, but they do a little damage.”
What?!

I guess they think making CC throw extra pitches is “damage.”
I have to admit, even if the Yankees win tonight, they have AJ Burnett going tomorrow night, which I find simply terrifying. It’s going to be pretty tense the rest of the way.
Haha, AJ Burnett? How does he make the post season roster, much less start a game? And how the hell do they win all those games?

CC better conjure up a double play ball here and quick or he’s going to be facing Cabrera with a lot of Tigers roaming the bases.
Edit: Or he could just get no one out and face Cabrera with the bases loaded. /facepalm

I’m declaring it now, the Tigers have more than two runs and Verlander on the mound, they’ve won. Now because of that, I’ve jinxed them and they’ll lose this game and the next.

Walks aside, Verlander looks pretty untouchable right now.
Edit: Holy crap, Gardner!

Well not so much anymore.

And the Yankees season will come down to a game 4 in Detroit with AJ Burnett on the hill.
Not what I’d call an optimal scenario.

Like most Americans I get my MLB info from this thread since football has started, I gather that Detroit leads their series with the Yankees 2-1 based on the posts I’ve read tonight.
I wonder which AJ Burnett will show up on the mound. Talk about rolling the dice.
Yesterday’s attendance at the Trop was 32,828, which is 9% below max capacity. I dunno how they were saying it was a sell-out, but it mostly definitely wasn’t. Today I’d wager it looks even worse. Pathetic.

Yeah, there is no excuse for that anymore. I read someone trying to justify it the other day, with stuff about how the area was screwed over by MLB letting a bunch of teams use them as a threat to get better stadium deals, most notably the Giants (who were sold to a group that was going to move them to Tampa then had the sale rejected by MLB and the team given to a lower bidder). Which is true. And then apparently the original ownership of the Rays was pretty horrible. Which may also be true. And now the argument is that the stadium is dreary and hard to get to for most people in the area.
But none of that applies to this ownership or this group of players or especially a team that has been amazingly competitive in the toughest division in baseball. And if the fans in Tampa can’t be bothered to come watch this team, then they probably never will support any team.

Elsewhere, Adrian Beltre has joined one of the most exclusive clubs in baseball history by hitting 3 home runs in one postseason game.
Unfortunately for the Rangers, they’ve all been solo shots, as they try to hold on to this 4-2 lead and finish off the Rays.
HELL YEAH! First team to advance.
So much for the team of destiny.

Gratz to the Rangers, and not letting the Rays pull more comeback magic on them. I’m terrified of the Rangers in the ALCS.
I’m in a really weird place with this Phillies/Cards series. I’m rooting for the Cards right now as the underdog to somehow tie this game, but if the Cards were to knock the Phillies out, I think I would feel cheated somehow, that this season will feel unfulfilled if the Phillies incredible starting rotation doesn’t at least make it to the World Series.
And as I say that, the Cards load the bases, trailing 3-1, so this is going to get a little more interesting before it’s finished. :)
I think I’m gonna throw up.
I really hate the five game series.
Great pitching from both sides, though. Well, except the Phillies’ middle relief. Tomorrow should be interesting. It’s gonna be one of those 12-10 games.

As a Yankees fan watching AJ Burnett making Russell Martin play goalie on every other pitch with a runner at third, I can say I’m not in love with the 5 game series at this moment, either.
Burnett can’t even throw a strike here. He’s not even close. Everything is in the dirt and a mile outside. If he gets out of this inning, I still might not let him come out in the second.
and HOLY *&@( Granderson saves the day
