The Gigantes certainly made a statement last night. After the first three innings, they were dominating so thoroughly that I switched over to the football game and just checked back during commercials. (Which meant I still saw more than half the baseball game…so many commercials in football.)
As a Tigers fan, I’m pleased that the NL teams are tiring themselves out playing one another. Though how much of a factor that will end up being, who knows? More importantly, as a baseball fan I’m glad there’s a game tonight so I have an excuse not to watch the Obama-Romney show part III.
Oh, and also, good science-geek stuff here, analyzing some of those super-high-speed camera clips that Fox has been using for slow-motion.
Oh, hmm, yeah. Ok I’ll shut up now.

That worked out pretty well in 2006 for the Tigers, huh?

Heard on the radio Leyland saying that the Tigers would be “playing” games against their instructional league team while waiting for the NL playoff winner.
And oh yea…Go Giants.
Yep, they did indeed. Valverde and Benoit both got work in, which I’m choosing to see as a good sign, in that maybe the coaches will either A) help them pitch decently or B) see how much they suck and give up on the idea of letting them in a game.
Also, Phil Coke may have closed a couple of games, but holding the champagne bottle that gashes open the skipper’s head isn’t the best way to stay in his good graces.

No. 1 reason #Tigers are in World Series arguably is Justin Verlander. No. 1 reason they open on road is JV’s all-star game
Have to feel terrible for former Cardinals pitching coach (and possible Hall of Famer?) Dave Duncan. He left the team last year because his wife was suffering from a glioblastoma–a malignant brain tumor. She’s still around, thankfully, but longterm prognosis for those isn’t very good.
Now it’s been revealed that his son–former Cardinal Chris Duncan–has been absent from his radio show and constant twittering because he had a brain tumor removed at the end of September. No word on the seriousness of it, other than Duncan says he’s feeling good and hopes to be back on radio “ASAP”.
No husband and father should have to go through that.

Sounds like they are getting some rain tonight in San Francisco, so hopefully they can get this one in.
Edit: Game started on time, so good news.

I know its only the third inning, but that three run hit by Pence, helped by two Cardinal defensive mistakes, might be insurmountable. 5-0 Giants.
Giants raking, Cardinals folding.
Better team ended up winning. Cardinals got out-pitched, certainly out-hit, and out-defensed this series.
Is it me or is the Cardinal defense not good?

Bases loaded again, still no outs. Folding indeed.
Yep, he now looks very much like the guy who could neither field nor hit in the minor leagues. Definitely regressing to the mean here.
I know it’s 6-0 Giants in the 3rd, and they’re at home, and the Cardinals look like a high school team out there. I watched game 5 in Washington, too. I don’t think St. Louis has another one of those in them, but then, I didn’t think they had the first one either.
This is what I was looking for, though. I like the Tigers’ chances better against the Giants. At least, if they can get freakin’ Scutaro out. No one in the NL seems to be able to.

Kozma has been dreadful in the past three games. I don’t see how you even leave him in for another inning.

In fairness to Kozma, that slow-mo they showed of the Pence hit made it pretty clear it was a freak hit.
Well, hopefully the Giants fall behind the Tigers 3-1. They seem to do well in elimination games…

If nothing else, the slow mo camera that Fox is using is awesome.

This is all just a setup for another Cardinals miracle. :)
