Yeah, that blows, although at least there’s football to switch to.
Glad to see the Nats won. Dunno if they’ve got the experience to go far, but they’re an exciting team. And young enough they’ll be around a while.

Oh, I’m not worried about my schedule, but the Yankees schedule. :)
I think it was last year with Yankees/Detroit where game 1 got rained out and then everyone had to rejigger their pitching and figure out where to use Verlander and Sabathia, etc. I don’t think it decided the series or anything, but I’d rather everyone just played and pitched when they’re scheduled to. :)
Yeesh. The Giants don’t even look like they belong on the same field as the Reds. They’re getting outplayed in every category. Embarrassing performance.
What an utter meltdown by the Orioles. Multiple chances but couldn’t get to Sabathia in the first 8 innings. Then Johnson comes in and gives up 5 runs in the 9th. I’m giving up and going to bed, maybe if I don’t watch they’ll come with a miracle in the bottom of the 9th, unlikely as that is.

Yankees break it open in the 9th! Woot!
CC gave them a solid outing tonight, so with any luck, they’ll finish this off without taxing their pen, which hopefully will give them a small advantage in the later innings tomorrow night.
Edit: And they’re letting CC pitch the 9th! I like it!

To call what happened to the Giants a meltdown would imply that they were in this game at some point.

Also, A-Rod turns in the “slide” of the year

Leyland: “Benoit is our guy” for the 8th inning. Well, as a Tigers fan I hope the tying run never comes to the plate in the 8th inning for the rest of the playoffs.

Cardinals rebounding nicely today, so they should at least get a split out of these first two.
For whatever reason, Cardinals just rake Jordan Zimmermann. Now he’s surrendered 28 runs in 27 innings against them.
Also having two starting pitchers in his bullpen gave Matheny the option to yank Jaime Garcia after two innings.
While it sucks that the Nats are right back in this (for Cards fans), it looks like Joe Kelly is the next pitcher coming in for St. Louis, and this excites me for one reason. This forum is one of the few places where Joe Kelly’s stunning resemblance to the default character face in Fallout 3 will get some play.

I have 2 extra tickets for the home A’s game tomorrow.
I’ve never been a scalper, but I might just try my hand.
We got the Tigers right where we want them. Coming into the Oakland Fortress where their backs are up against the wall and have to win 1.

Holy smoke, did that ball say something about Beltran’s mother? That was like a foot off from the upper deck.
Mike Morse sticks his glove out to make a play and Beltran never gets a chance to Beltran that ball the way he did.

Damn, Beltran just crushed another one. I guess he’s still mad at the ball.
And Yankees / O’s is being delayed again, although they suspect they’ll get rolling eventually.
If he wants to be Playoff Mode Carlos Beltran, look out.

Trigger, I’ll direct this at you, since you probably have a much better read on the Cards/Nats series than I do:
Does this pummeling of the Nats’ bullpen mean anything going forward? Are they tiring anyone out of consequence, or are they just beating up batting practice guys who are just out there to eat up innings? (I know almost nothing of the Nats pen.)
Just beating up on some back of the bullpen guys, honestly. Bringing in a lefty (Gorzelanny) to face Allen Craig is like bringing in a limping, bloody wildebeest to tame a lion.
The frontline Nats relievers–Garcia (who was fine today), Clippard, and Storen–are very, very good.
If the Nats have pitching worries, it’s their starting staff. They’ve looked a little tired coming down the stretch, and you saw some of that with Gio in Game 1.
Cardinals bullpen “aces” have looked pretty shaky. Not sure I’ve got a ton of faith in Mujica and Boggs at this point, both guys have got to be pretty tired.
