And here come the Reds in the 9th, bringing the tying run to the plate for the 4th inning in a row, scoring a run to make it 6-4 with two men on base. So a swing of the bat could mean anything from a series-clinching double play for the Giants to a walk-off 3 run HR for the Reds.

I reiterate. Giants make some great defensive plays to hang on to that lead (Posey’s double play, Pagan’s sliding catch).

I would suspect that Joe–like so many of us kids with parents in this situation–said his goodbyes and had most of the tears, depression, grief, and sadness years ago.

I saw that his father apparently passed on Saturday? If that’s the case, he’s been managing with this on his mind for a while now.

Also, Reds are finished. The Cueto injury hurt them, I think, but SF is just a very good team.

Holy shit. Where is my heart medication?!

That sliding catch from Pagan and the diving catch from Crawford were awesome! Amazing game, series, comeback, etc.

As Joe Sheehan pointed out on twitter, the Reds went from being up 2 games to none with a no-hitter going to being eliminated in 46 hours.

Yeah, apparently this happened a few days ago and they’re just releasing that news today.

Gratz to the Giants, hanging on in a white-knuckler. Elsewhere, Nats/Cards are 1-1 in the 4th. I’ll admit, I’m rooting for a Giants/Cards NLCS at this point.

Congrats, SF. First time the road team won every game of a best of five series.

Edit: NL team, that is.

It’s gone! Werth in a walk-off!

Game 5, tomorrow night!

Stupid early games. Haven’t been able to catch much of them thus far. Hopefully the A’s will pull it out too and yes I’m hoping for Bay Bridge series once more and yes I would be one of those fellows that wears the dual team hat. Though I think I’m rooting more for the A’s this year to take it all since the Giants have already won one in the recent past.

Saw that coming. I believe that is the 6th or 7th game–out of like 20–that the Nats have won in DC on a walkoff hit of some sort against St. Louis.

Nats back in the driver’s seat with Gio going tomorrow. Guessing he’ll have tamped down whatever caused his multi-walk performance in game 1.

Damn, this is a lot of playoff baseball. If the Orioles can win tonight, they’ll play the maximum number of games in the division round. Congrats to the Nats and the Giants, that was some great baseball so far today.

Jayson Werth just earned his paycheck for the year, if nothing else.

Buster Posey is a great baseball name. Looks like Matty Cain is coming in to give him five at the end of that GIF.

Money didn’t buy happiness in baseball in 2012. Nice little article about how the big spenders didn’t do so hot.

Finally, finally, the Orioles managed to score a second run, and the bullpen didn’t screw it up. Game 5 tomorrow*!

And Verlander is kicking ass in Oakland, Tigers are up 6-0.

    • Technically, later today.

So I’m disappointed the Yankees didn’t win tonight, but then I turned over to the A’s/Tigers game and realized things could be way worse: you could be down 6-0 in the 8th inning of an elimination game with Verlander on the mound. Eeek.

Maximum DS baseballing achieved.

Congrats to Verlander and the Tigers. It just wasn’t meant to be for Oakland.

Too bad for Oakland. They had a hell of a run, but Verlander was just too much for em. Grats to the Tigers.
