Heroics aside, he’s just not that good against lefty pitchers and Coke is a good one with a big platoon split. I was shocked that Giardi didn’t put in A-Rod or Swisher to dare Leyland to put in Benoit and then counter Benoit with Swisher.

I think that was some terrible managing, frankly. Letting Ibanez bat there was just awful. If Leyland let Coke pitch to ARod, I think you dance up and down the dugout about it, and if he switches, you take your chances or even go with the Swish.

If the weather forecast in STL is right, not sure either starting pitcher will be out there for the fourth inning (because the 4th could start sometime around 7pm EDT)

…and Beltran out of the game, guessing it’s his left hand. That’s a problem. Hard to see how STL wins anything else this postseason without the only guy in the lineup who’s doing any hitting.

Tornado sirens going off in Wentzville, O’Fallon, St. Peters. All headed towards Busch within 30 minutes.

Arggggh. If the Giants leave men in scoring position again I’m going to tear my hair out! Makes me think the batting order could be tweaked a little.

You fans of the Outlaw Josey Wales are about to see a good old fashioned Missouri Frog Throttler here.

Gah. I can’t watch this shitty team any more today. Hack, hack, hack.

Also, Hunter Pence needs some remedial batting practice.

Down south we call it the Missouri Boat Ride…

The storms are about 30 minutes out roughly, give or take, and pack wind gusts of 60 mph. The tornado warnings were for circulations that would pass north of the metro area (and have since expired), but could be a hairy situation in a bit. Maybe another wind tunnel dealie like they had a few years ago…

Oops I guess it got called much sooner than that.

Yeah, it was 6:05 or so when tornado sirens went off in St. Peters. Been there, done that. Knew it was about a half hour away from hitting downtown.

Belt needs to be hitting behind Posey IMO. Pence is struggling too much and Posey isn’t seeing anything worth hitting right now.

Actually looks like the outflow ahead of the storm front, coupled with instability, created a whole new line of storms right over the city. The initial front hasn’t even gotten there yet, and the new activity just formed in a line that goes right through the metro area.

Edit: eh actually not quite the way it happened but… whatever.

So the NLCS is in delay and now it sounds like the ALCS game is being delayed or postponed as well.

Yep, ALCS delay called just a bit ago, weather bearing down, and they don’t want the starting pitchers to go into their pre-game warmups and have the game delayed an hour in the first inning.

Looks like about another hour of delay in STL.

Not sure who Handsome Mike sends out there for the 8th, but I’m guessing Rzepczynski with the pesky Blanco and Crawford coming up. Seems like those guys have been on base every AB this series.

No official word yet, and it’s not even raining in Detroit right now, but forecast looks bad enough that good chance game is postponed

Now here is an awful sign: They just rolled up on-deck circles and took 'em away, as @DKnobler observes. Now the bases are going away

ALCS postponed until tomorrow at 4pm.

NLCS to resume when FOX’s episode of The X Factor concludes. I’m 100% serious about that.
