Wonder when Marlins man is going to stop sitting behind the plate at other ballparks? I hope he’s not waiting for another Marlins world series, might be a while.
Apparently he’s wealthy and unmarried and just likes going to big sporting events. Sounds pretty fun, really.
It’s a zoo in KC tonight. You’ve got the Marlin man, some dude in a horse head dancing around, and of course the guy with the moose antlers.
He’s a good man
Also, that Herrera inning was nasty. I’m worried about Madson coming into the 8th, though.
Hah, now he’s switched caps with a Royals fan. Nice.
Couple of potentially significant hand injuries tonight. Perez for KC, Encarnacion for Toronto. I don’t doubt that both will keep playing as long as it’s physically possible, but they probably won’t be near 100%.

Man, my Royals pulled it off tonight. A couple of scary innings, but Volquez looked the best he has all season, they got their runs, and got out of scary innings when they needed to. They really needed to grab this one.
Tomorrow afternoon, Ventura vs. Price. Should be another pitching dual, assuming the “good” Ventura shows up.
Perez got dinged up pretty good in the ALDS and was involved in a car accident in Houston, and he had his best postseason series ever, so it’ll take a lot to keep him down.
Also, even the fans brought their A-game tonight:

Can I glory in how wrong this was yet? This is turning into a dream playoff series for a lot of long-suffering fans isn’t it? My Royals are doing well. Cubs. NY Mets.
I was also impressed by the dude in the “We eat birds in KC” shirt.
Last WS victories:
Cubs: 1908
Royals: 1985
Mets: 1986
Jays: 1993
Somebody’s getting off a 20+ year schneid!
In that time, since 1993, the Yankees, Cardinals, Red Sox, and Giants have all won at least twice. This is (one reason) why all the rest of us hate them.

Perez is easily the Royals MVP/Stud. The way he handles these younger pitchers, his bat, his leadership, he’s the real deal. I was listening to some post game on KC radio last night (thank goodness for internet radio!) and they were saying the game plan all along was for Volquez to pitch tight inside, and before the game Perez asked him how he’d feel about changing the game plan and pitching outside. Volq said, you’re the quarterback, whatever you think is best, I trust you. Perez had studied game videos and decided that would be the best approach.
And the results are clear this morning. Perez can be dog sick, have a foul ball hit him in the chin at 90 miles an hour, get hit in the elbow, get hit on the knuckles by a bat, and he just keeps on coming like the worst Boss in the hardest video game you’ve ever played.
I can’t stand the Cubs, but this was cute: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EC79FMP94E8
After winning the ALDS, Blue Jays fans celebrate in the streets! But only until the light turns green.

Holy crap. I need to remember to not count my Royals out at any point. Down 3-0 with Price on the mound, not really touching him, late in the game, and that comeback. Have to admit, though, I was scared big time when Davis had two on and the two big bats coming up, one HR from a tie game.
That effort to win home field advantage is looking to pay off right now.
Seems like the theme to this postseason is Don’t Make Mistakes in the Field, Especially After the 7th. Price was just cruising until that pop fly that Goins bailed on.
Sometimes it takes a couple hitters for Wade’s OS to kick in.
It was last year too. The giants were excellent at taking advantage of fielding mistakes on their way to the title.
After the divisional round mostly went the way I was hoping for, I thought maybe this year the curse of teams-I’d-like-to-see-win would be lifted. But now, both the Blue Jays and the Cubs are going home down 0-2. It ain’t over yet, but it’s looking like my personal curse is alive and well.
Hell of a time for Arrieta to emerge from whatever fugue state he’d been in since July. Very Cubbish.

Yeah, the Cubs had to be counting on winning that one with him on the mound.
